HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

Just weighed in.... 238.5, same as 4 weeks ago, but not 242.5 like last week.  Sad thing is I peeked on Monday and it said 237, so it kinda bums me out.  Then, I was bad and came back to my desk and ate some more fudge!  Guess i'll have to work extra hard at Zumba tonight.  Emotional Eating??????
awww Blj...I suggest drinking a whole bunch more water today to flush the fuge out... and it will get better... we are still here for you.
hi i'm Amanda. I'm 27 5'3 3/4" tall and am curently 215lbs. this is the highest i have been since i had my daughter seven years ago. then i went up to 250lb. but i lost most of the weight and went down to 180lb. now all i want to do is get back under 200lb. which i haven't been now for about 2 years. i think this sight is great. it has been a great motivation to me to try again to shed some of the extra weight.reading everyone's post helps a lot.
welcome...sleepen...
hi sleep welcome to the group!!!!
So my day started off bad... last night our truck ended up getting a flat, so hubby thought that since he babied it home last night (3/4th of a mile home from where it happened) he could use the fix-a-flat stuff and drive it to Les Shwab (about 6 miles away).  Well he ended up getting about half way and then the tire decided to blow completely.  So he hasn't been in a good mood... I was nice though, I called his shop to warn the guys down on the floor to be advised!!  But after the whole ordeal, I myself could use some Calgone =)  The only bright side to this is we were not charged for a new tire ($150)!!! Whhooo - HHoooooo!!

Ginny - hang in there girl, just one step at a time with the family! We're here for you!  My neice has random seizures and she has been on close to every medicine there is for it, that her little body can handle.  At the end of last year they did a weeks stay in the hospital, where she had to be off her meds to see if they could 'catch' a random seizure, of course she didn't have one; it happened the following week -- go figure!  Her siezures stared after she fell off her bike and landed directly on her forehead - she had her helmet on, but it ended up getting pushed backward when she landed... so since then she has seizures.

BLJ - hang in there, drink water and just try to get focused again. It happens to all of us to do sometype of emotional eating, just remember that it didn't take a day to gain the weight, so it's going to take some time to lose it!  I'm here to cheer you on!!! WOW - and your house sounds busy!  I miss that, well I don't really have that at my house (no kids), so I guess I miss what I don't have at times...

Smare - WTG on the walking! Just getting active helps! I read somewhere that by working out it relaxes you throughout the day and can help you fall asleep up to 10 minutes faster.  I like that because I rather enjoy sleeping =)

Elle - did they catch the guy?  Stay safe!!!

Welcome to Sleepen!  Hope to see you mingling =)
Hi Amanda!  Welcome to the group...make yourself comfortable!

Yes Elle-are the woods safe?  Did they catch him??  I've watched too many horror movies to be able to be comfortable in the woods at night.  Lol

Smare-if you put the scale away now, that's less packing later....right?  Lol  Do you think it's your sodium intake that makes you fluctuate so much from day to day?

Rockin-what are you adding to up your protein?

Ginny-that does sound stressful.  Have you ever run out and just screamed at the top of your lungs with all your might?  I can't really do it by me or I'd have a straight jacket waiting so I do it into a pillow.  I'm not making light, I'm just trying to make you laugh.  I really do scream into a pillow on occassion.  I use the one my great grandmother made...it's very thick.

Wrrly...CONGRATS!!!  :)

The luncheon went well I think.  I can't figure out how to log it so I did my best.  I had a filet mignon-10oz.  Yup, I ate the whole damn thing and it tasted so good I'm not going to feel guilty about it at all. I had maybe four tiny forks of the potatoes...so little it still had the little ball shape when the waiter took my plate...and of course I ate the brocolli.  It was covered in something so I scraped that off.  I passed on the cinnamon apple ice cream with white chocolate flakes but I had to have the wine.  I also passed on the fried calamari (easy cause I don't like fish) but I did have a half slice of bruschetta.  I've logged everything but the wine so far.  I probably hit my daily calories with all that but I plan on hitting the treadmill tonite.  Of course that's if I don't fall asleep from the wine and meat.   Y  A  W  N!!!!!!!
Alright, I must've done something wrong...my grade right now is an A.  ???  Huh???  No way...  I'll sceptically take it.
an A...including the wine...way to go... VK

thanks for the encouragement...I appreciate it so much.. The day has been long but I was not as hungry today so that helped a lot.  That reduced some of the stress...I was so worried if I got too hungry that I would just eat and eat and eat...like scream and scream and scream..Living a 1/2 mile a way from my nearest neighbor I probably could go out and scream but my throat hurts from all the controlled comments I have made today to Josh.  Stop that now...we do not throw things in the house, etc.  ;-)  Oh well, he goes to bed in 2 1/2 hours and then it will be quiet for 11 wonderful hours...yippeee.
VK - lunch sounded terrific!  ::MMMM:: Fillet Mingon!!  Sounds like you were able to get everything from the food groups for lunch! wtg!
welcome sleepenangel- we're close to being twins....heehee....oops...sorry guess not...I just reread your age...lol.  I'm 5'3 tall and am currently 216 lbs....but....sigh....I'm 45. Aw to be 27 again......

turtle- sorry you had a bad day. Flats are definately no fun. :)

vk- Just adding more chicken, turkey, meat of all sorts.  I don't know how to go about it really.. I'm experimenting...lol.   I'm still eating tons of veggies and my fruit...can't live without my fruit.  Also having high glycymic(not sure how to spell it) foods like high fibre bread, brown rice etc..but only twice a week and when I do have it it is small servings. Anybody have suggestions? oh by the way....WTG on your luncheon. You did really good choices and good for you passing up the dessert.  Don't know if I could have done that.

I had a pretty good day today. Worked for 3 hours only today...well I did clean my house too and did laundry so I guess I worked more then 3 hours...heehehe.  Had eggs for breakfast...no bread.  Lunch was a slice of meatloaf with 2 cups carrots. Supper was 2 chicken thighs, green beans.  And had my apple with peanut butter for supper.  Just figuring out the calories now.  Will let you know how I did.
ok 1514 calories for the day...not bad.  Almost right on.  Oops forgot to add the cheese. oh boy that brought it up to 1795 cals.  Gotta lay off that cheese.  Oh well still leaves me with a 932cal deficit after I log activities.
Hey everyone.  I did Zumba and its a good thing.  My husband and i went out on our Wednesday night "date" but we did have our 9 year old with us.  The other kids went to church.  We ate at Lone Star and I had the ribs.  My calories say that i had about 2400 calories but i know that isn't right because I didn't eat the whole sweet potato and I didn't have the brown sugar on it either.  just the potato and the butter and only 1/2 of that.  i shared my salad with my son, and drank water instead of pop.  i feel quite full but not miserable full.  I brought the other half of my meal home for my teenage daughter.  i was still under 1000 calories until going to Lone Star but I will take whatever calories the counter says i have and not worry about it.  Especially since my pedometer says that i have nearly 10,000 steps today and I have drank almost 2 liters of water.  Overall, not bad for a bad day of eating.

i'm pretty easy going and i think that is the only thing that really gets me through the chaos at home.  We have quiet times and crazy times and crying times and yelling times and i can't take it any more times and it all evens out i guess.  One of these days when everyone is grown up and moved away, i will enjoy the peace and quiet while looking forward to the crazy loud holiday get togethers.

Either way, i hope that I will be "less" of a person then, like maybe half of what i am now ;)
rockin...glad you are finding ways to still make good choices to eat...

blj...Lone star sounds so good...I wouldn't feel guilt at all...
Lone Star was so good, too good!  I even tried to choose a place that wasn't going to be too bad to eat at.  But I just couldn't resist the ribs this time.  Usually I get the veggies but the sweet potato was calling my name.... and I answered to it!
yuk. I feel really bloated today, too many calories and too much sodium and oh my I need to do better tomorrow. Gotta keep it short tonight, I've run out of time.  Take care everybody!!
I know where Blue is going...

Hi and bye for a little bit everyone...it's time to get Lost!  Lol
Welcome sleepenangel!

Thanks for the encouragment everbody. And thanks for your concern. The police search here has ended but not until 3 State Troopers were shot and one died. They finally cornered the guy in a nearby farmhouse (summer home ... no one was there, thank God) and shot tear gas into the house. Soon after that, the house caught on fire and burned the guy to death. It isn't official yet but they are pretty sure that it was him. I feel terrible for the Troopers and their families but I also feel sorry for the guy who shot them. He was only 23 years old and had tried to get his life back in order before this happened. He had a police record but only for a couple of misdemenors. Now he's dead. And most likely folks around here, who never used to even lock their doors, will be doing so from now on. A tragic story all around.

I think I'll have TWO 100 calorie snacks tonight!
Good evening everyone!

I've missed so much in just the short time I was gone today.

Ell - I just read the story!  This was in your woods??  Wow!  My brother is a student at SUNY Canton.  It's amazing how things can turn so badly, so quickly for a person.

Ginny - Wow!  I would want to scream everyday.  You must have the patience of a saint!!  I know I would not do well in an environment like that.  Kudos to you and your efforts!  We are here....just let it all out!

V - Good job on lunch!  Sometimes, it's okay to splurg...just a little.  The great thing is, it was in the middle of the day and not at the end of the day, which means you have more time to burn off the calories.

Turtle - Flat tires are definitely no fun...it's a good thing they didn't charge you guys for it.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Rockinmama - Where ya been??  I missed ya...!

Itsmy - I have some meal ideas for you.  I make this citrusy tuna salad that's about 200 - something calories.  1 serving is an entire can of tuna.  I make it about once a week.  You know the omega 3's and it's yummy!  Chef salad is another favorite, lean turkey meat, skip the ham and very little cheese about 300 calories the way I make mine.  With grilling season coming up, there's all kinds of yummies you can do on the grill.  When I get time later sometime next week, I'll email you some more ideas.

Alright, last night I went out with my hubby and his students.  I ended up drinking about 2 1/2 beers and picking at the nachos.  I think in the end I ate about sixth of the nachos.  I've turned into such a lightweight, I was buzzed a little after the beers.  On our way home, my husband stopped for a caramel sunday and I had chicken wings.  Talk about all control going out the window!  They were good but, I was a feeling a little bogged down this morning.

Today, I had to go get my drivers' license switched over and I was out most of the day.  I started with oatmeal and then stopped at a Korean restaurant for lunch and had homemade California style sushi for dinner, I skipped on the rice.  I went over my calories just a little (<200) but, I did a lot of walking today.

So, that was me today.  Catch up with you guys tomorrow!  Night night!
