HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

Good morning everyone...

Well, I did it, I worked "hard' yesterday on my brain and decided that I can eat a little more once in a while to keep my metabolism guessing and I will not lose my pattern of eating good.  Stats for yesterday, no extra exercise, 80 ounces of water, and 1978 calories.  My worry has been that if I eat 400 extra today, will I then eat that much each day.  I think I can do this.  I just want to make sure for when I do plateau.  Today I will be back to around 1800.

Hye...glad you got to go shopping and were able to be in-between sizes...think of how you are going to look in a couple of weeks...congrats on the purse and the new camera.

did you have a good night by yourself...itsmy...I do so enjoy the hours I get here, usually every tuesday morning from 8:30 until 3pm I get by myself...

Speaking of true fitness & health ... I just noticed that my BMI index has changed from "morbidly obese"  to  "severely overweight". Now there's a comforting thought, LOL!!!
blueotter, I know what you mean! Everyone always asks "what have you been doing" with this eager look on their face like you're about to tell them some magical secret, and once you say, "watching calories and excercising...." their eyes start to glaze over and they look like you've just completely wasted their last 5 minutes. Everyone's looking for an easy answer.

Sounds like everyone's weekend is off to a good start. I get to put it to to the test today since I have a hair appointment and my hair dresser hasn't seen me in a month and a half so we'll see if she notices anything.  Fingers crossed for kudos!! lol

It's a blah rainy day. I woke up to a massive bang of thunder and all the car alarms on the street started going off because it was that big. Hope y'all have some sunshine today!
congrats ell-bell on being severly overweight..... and a BIG thankyou on the cartoons.  I just went and read all 65...they were funny.

CB-it is raining here too.  the graound is soaked and I have my boys all day...I am grateful one of the state training people is coming at 10am so that will help out...I think we will bake something low cal and then maybe paint or do playdough...Not being able to go outside drives them nuts...

It's supposed to rain here too but only this AM.  It hasn't started yet but I hope it does and gets over with.  I put my tomato plants and daisies outside.  I need to repot them today, I'll let them get some natural water and light first.

Ah, another weekend test for me.  We'll see if I can stay on schedule with my food.  I already have my chicken thighs marinating in some dressing for later this afternoon.  I'll have to go to the store and find what else to go with it.  I have a taste for some brocolli and some chipotle hummus to snack on today.  YUM!  I gotta remember to pick some up.
BTW, is Turtle back yet??? 
wow I had an awesome time last night. I went to a restaurant w/ my sister and cousin and some of my sister's coworkers to celebrate my sister getting married. Everyoen ordered appetizers to share but i ordered the angel hair pasta b/c I didn't want the fried/fatty stuff. We were drinking too and having a really good time. So towards the end of hte night a guy comes over and it is a contractor that the girls work with. He was  a really nice guy, does a lot of business w/ my dad, so he sat w/ us and talked and bought us a round. Then the bill came and picked up the whole tab!!!! OMG! it was over $150! I tried to get him to at least let me leave the tip but he insisted on paying all of it! I couldn't believe he did that! but we had a great time and I did pretty well on my food but i have no idea how to gauge it so I'm not worrying about it. The scale was still down more this morning so that's always a good sign!

Just wanted to share a WOOHOO moment.. I kind of weighed myself a day early but I'm now down to 270! I've lost 10 pounds in my two weeks here!

Kt...a triathalon sounds amazing.  I don't think I could do it so congrats to you!  Also...way to go on dinner and getting the pasta...even better when someone else picks up the tab...lol...sounds like you had a terrific night!

itsmy...how was your night alone?  Did you rest and relax?  I love those kinds of nights!!

jack...wtg on 10 pounds!  That is terrific and a success like that definitely makes you want to keep going!  Congrats!

We went to King's Island today (our local amusement park) and I had 16 ounces of Coke and 2 slices of Larosa's pizza (a local fave)...then we went out to dinner 2 weeks late for our anniversary to Applebee's and I had steak & shrimp skewers with rice pilaf and broccoli from the WW menu and also a bowl of onion soup...I was worried that I went over my points even though I was prepared for it...and not upset with myself...so...I got home...figured my activity points for walking for 90 minutes and I did not go over...I am at 0 points left but I DID NOT go over...:)  I am so excited!  I know I can't eat like that every day, but to do it one day and stay with it is exciting for me...I am proud of myself!!


glad to see folks making progress. ellbell, good for you on the change in catagory. Tabby, sounds like you had a good time, it's nice when restuarants have menus that make it easy to stay on track, good for you.

jack, WOOHOO to you!!  I also weighed a day early, just couldn't wait till tomorrow and I am 2 pounds less than last week, yahoo!

I made a healthy lunch today that was pretty tasty. I cooked a bit of whole wheat spaghetti and in the same pot I put some broccoli florets, red pepper and shredded carrots, drained it all and added some cooked chicken and then mixed in some Newmans Own lowfat sesame ginger dressing. It was quite good and the picky hubby liked it so I'll be making it for dinner on occasion. Could put in some edimame(sp) and a little peanut butter. Got the recipe out of a magazine and tweaked it a little. I like easy recipes. Don't know the nutrition info but it shouldn't be bad at all.
hey everyone!  Sounds like the weekend is really going to be a big success.  Hang in there.  i've managed to be at 1545 calories today, stayed within my calories, just barely but i did it!

hummus= i love it.  We had some at work once and i've loved it since, all kinds and flavors.

king's Island - i know and love it well!!!!  The Beast is the Best! then the Racer!  La Rosa's, hmmm, hard to pass that up at any time.  Tabby, do you like Skyline as well?  i'm sure you got lots of exercise at king's island.  When we go, it is ALL DAY LONG! 

jack = WTG on the 10 lbs.  pass me some of that losing energy you have, I really need it.  i've been losing the same 5-7 lbs for over a year and a half now.

kt -- What luck! Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, and.... have the good fortune to have someone else pick up the tab.  Unreal!!!

Everyone, keep on working hard.  Only one day left of the weekend.  Family day, exercise day (read Fun Day), and relax.  Be healthy, and Be Active.

I am not a big roller coaster fan, but I have ridden the Beast...my son was there all day today with his chorus class and he actually rode the racers and he is a chicken...lol...

Larosa's is too good to pass up anytime...

We mostly went to walk around because we have season passes, but we did ride Adventure Express twice...then it rained and we came home...only there about 3 hours but still got some walking in...

Hey all!  I haven't popped into the forums much lately because not only have I been supremely busy, but I've also been having computer issues at home. :(  Boo! 

Anyway, I wanted to roll in here and say HI to all my 200+crew!  I've recently broke the 20lb mark and it's amazing to see the difference between a 275 on the scale and a 253.  I sometimes don't believe I can really be seeing those numbers!

Makes me think I should started this journey with this kind of dedication long ago! :D

Glad to see people are doing well!  Happy Spring.  Enjoy this beauty weather!

night, night tabby. Only 9:20 here but I'll be hitting the sack soon myself.  I love roller coasters! Can't wait till I can go on all of them without worrying about being turned away cuz of my weight. So embarrassing!

hummus- the stuff I saw at the store today had like 70 cals for a couple tablespoons which surprised me because I thought it was something low cal. It said it had roasted red pepper in it but I can't see where that would make it more fattening. Am I missing something?

good for you blj,  for staying in cals. I can't blame you for being careful with your info. It's become a weird world.

You got a good giggle out of me again ellbell. I liked that one! I showed my son and husband and got them both laughing too. Think I'll copy it and take it to work with me on Mon.
