HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!

Ell- I feel for you...I know how that feels.. but keep pluggin' with me ok. I'm there for you...just like you are for me...we're all here keepin each other going. No going back! That's my motto. My clothes are way loser. I haven't been shopping in so long so I'm still wearing size 18. I should go and try things on....but I guess I'm just scared....scared size 16 still won't fit...:) Then I'll be really down and out. But I can literally put my whole fist between my waist and waist band on my pants. My daughter says some of the stores sizes have changed and gone smaller. She's the same size as always and now she says she doesn't fit in her normal size she bought last year...yet she is wearing her old jeans in that same size. Would they really be putting sizes smaller? That really sucks.
Welcome barney and red and any other new ones I missed.
Welcome barney and red and any other new ones I missed.
Thanks ginny, just feeling sorry for myself, I guess. It hasn't been a good day sor far and it's only 10:15 am here. Just when I got off the scale this morning, my husband called from work to ask me if I had a flower shaped cookie cutter that his "cute", "little", new & only employee could borrow. NOT good timing! What is the matter with men anyway? He knows I was upset about her working there ... what would possess him to do such a thing? It's not that I think there is any hanky-panky going on, because I don't (she's very happily married with a nine year old daughter). But regardless, it doesn't do much for my self esteem. Just makes me feel fat and ugly by compassion.
Aww ell, He probably didn't even think before he said it dear. But I know what you mean. My hubby, who I know loves me to bits and shows it everyday, talks about this young cute slim secretary....not in any wway that would be wrong mind you....he just says shes a nice girl and has lots of spunk...doesn't put up with all the guys there flirting with her....things like that....but it drives the ** out of me. But I'm the jealous type...heheee. Don't worry about the no loss....from what I've seen you're doing prety good. Keep going hon!
Ginny, Oh (about the size 14). I don't know if I could do that myself (too chicken) but kudos for you being able to use it as a tool. That was a good idea about the health fair too.
Ell-that's too bad about your standstill. I'm sure it'll catch up to you again.
Chris, have a great weekend at your dad's. Try using the small plate idea to limit your portions. And try to get in as much exercise as possible to counter if you do eat high caloric foods. Most of all, have fun and enjoy your dad's company!!!
Rockinmama-I think different manufacturers have different size scales altogether. Most of my pants are 24, but sometimes when I try that size on I can't even zip them. I'm also afraid of going in and not being able to get into a 22. I will be shopping (hopefully)soon so I'll be hoping for the best too. Speaking of sizes, Hye, have you gone out to try out more clothes?

Good morning everyone! I'm so glad that you guys are not kicking me out! I don't know what I would do without you guys. You guys have literally become my support system. I get up in the morning...er..mid-morning and check in. Then before lunch I check in, after lunch I check and .....anyways you guys get the idea.
Thanks to everyone for the congrats! I have to say it feels great that I did it. Now, I have a whole new goal. A little at a time!
dreamcruz - Great job at on 20lbs! I can't wait until I hit that mark myself! 20 - 16 ox bottles of Aquafina! Wow! That's a lot....! Thank you sooooo much for starting this thread.
kt - Sorry to hear that your tailbone is still bothering you. You banged it up really good, eh? Perhaps some water aerobics will help with the pain and get you started in training for the triathlon. BTW, I commend you for doing that! I don't even have the ambition to do the nasty e-word half the time. I have to trick myself by going shopping. Hahahaha!
barney - Welcome!! We're here for ya. A bqueen said, I find the journal and foodlog very helpful. When I start seeing the numbers add up it definitely deterrs me.
Tab - Good for you for getting back on track!!
Rockinmama - :)
red - Welcome! It's a great site, you'll love it here. As for Meridia, I don't know much about it but, I was on phentermine for a while. It was great because I wasn't doing much and lost 40 lbs. However, it gave me a false sense of security. I didn't change my eating habits and I think I would have been more successful if I would have changed my eating habits too. So, remember it's just as important to change your eating habits too. Oh by the way, once I stopped taking phentermine, I gained back the 40lbs. and an extra 30 lbs. to boot!
blj - I bet it is all the extra water weight from the salt. Boy, I've learned so much about salt from this site. Just keep chugging that water!
ginny - The first thing that came to mind for me about your symptoms is the way I feel when my sugar gets too low. I'm pre-diabetic and have to watch myself. If I go tooo long without eating, my muscles start to quiver and I have to get something to eat. So, I'm glad you had that blood drawn. Maybe you'll get some answers tomorrow. I hope it's all good news!
ell-bell - Hang in there! You're doing all the right things, the numbers will catch up!!

Yeah, I did try on more clothes. Hehehehe...it all depends on the manufacturer but yesterday I was getting into size 16s. I would say that I am probably around 18/20 right now. Alright...I'm off for the day for a day trip with my cute little hubby!!!
Ginny: Was this before or after your yard work? You may have just done too much exertion in the yard? It is possible that you could have been bitten by a bug that caused you to swell also. Do you have any terrible allergies? Are you still swollen? What worries me is that your arm hurt and you started to swell. Do you have hypertension or high blood pressure? Sometimes when someone has a stroke (not saying you did) their arm hurts and becomes somewhat numb. A stroke is basically not enough oxygen to the brain. Mild strokes actually occur a lot more often than people expect. My 25 year old cousin just recently had a mild stroke that had no impact on his functionality. Was it a tingling or a numb feeling? Sometimes overexertion causes these symptoms? my main concern is the arm and the swelling... you should definitely see a doctor ASAP because that doesn?t sound fun?. I am a hypochondriac! I think you are okay but do it to make sure? If the swelling continues please seek professional advice ASAP. Do not be alarmed with what I am saying? I am only a beginner in the field but I would rather be safe than sorry.
hi guys!
Had some catching up to do because yesterday was hubby's birthday (48, dang) and my mom and stepdad came over to eat cake and sing happy bday, so I didn't have time to come here. Luckily, my husbands favorite cake is german chocolate wich is one of my least favorites. Still a half a cake sitting downstairs, I'd be in trouble if it was regular chocolate!
Speaking of cake, yum, we're going to my moms for mothers day and there will be pineapple upside down cake. I hope I can manage okay because that is definitely a favorite! We don't let many special occasions pass in my family without cake.
hye, that is so exciting!! To see that first number change is a very big deal !!! Lets have some cake and celebrate, lol. I'm so glad you're going to stick around.
ellbell, 1000 cals sure doesn't seem like it could be enough. Make sure you're giving your body what it needs. Just a friendly nag. Your hubby probably just being the normal clueless guy. Try not to take it personal. I took that cartoon about how to get an accurate weight to work today and people were busting up over it!
glad your doing better mama, we're rooting for you!!
sorry your butt is still being a pain kt, did you get yourself a pillow, I've been looking at getting a special made one with a cut out for the tailbone, but I hate to buy stuff online or in catalogs and have to pay shipping. Hopefully you'll get better soon.
congrats to you dream! Welcome barney and red and hi to everyone I missed!

Hello all again...
Thanks for the concerns...Bqueenme and everyone else...The shakey feeling started when I got up making my hubby's lunch and then quit and then started again when I was doing the yard work. The pain in my arm kinda felt like carpelltunnel (sp?) which I have had but instead of being in my writst it was in my elbow and a little higher. The swelling started last night...It seems to have gone down since this morning because I could put my rings back on...Who knows? I didn't feel anything else. The shaking did stop when I ate lunch and then took a nap. I am thinking my blood sugar did go too low. I do have som allergies but I didn't get bit yesterday and nothing else swelled. So today I am wearing my wrist brace to see if that will help and drinking more and more water. I didn't do any yard work yet but I did go for a 30 min walk and no shaking. I will definitely go in if I get that feeling in my stomach that I need to.
Hye...I am so glad you get to go out with your hubby...I am hoping we can go out tomorrow night. Mine is working 6 days a week still and is so tired at night some days.
Dream..that spray sounds great...I have seen them before but never tried them yet. Great job on the 20lbs
Blue...have the cake, a small peice, and drink lots of water, and have fun...
Kt...how's the tailbone???
Chris...have fun with your family...I'd try the small plate thing too...
ell...I wish I could say don't worry but that won't help...Know that he did choose you, and has continued to choose you every morning when he wakes up. Think of how you are going to feel when you reach your goals...I would channel that energy into a vigorous workout.
Rockin...I am so glad you are posting...
Tabby...I am so glad you are getting back on track, a little over and you learned that you need to stay on track...you are going to do great...
Welcome to the newest ones I may have missed...

Hey guys! Well first off congrats to all the losers! You are apparently doing something I'm not! haha
ginny-I'd say you probably should get more snacks in to keep yourself from getting weak. It sounds like your blood sugar just dropped as you said. Hope it doesn't happen again!
Mama- hope today is goign better for you! I think you need to give yourself some "you" time. Just relax, takea hot bath with some wine, and chill out this weekend. You work so hard for everyone else!
My tailbone has been kinda hit and miss. I"ll go a day thinkin it's great and it's not bothering me and then the next day it's hurting horribly again. Thankfully I have vicodin now though so that helps a lot. And I'm bringing a towel to school w/ me so i'm not sitting directly on a hard chair. I tried out my mom's road bike last night and it's the right size for me so I've been looking online for one to buy. They are expensive!! But I want to get a good one so I don't kill myself at the triathlon. I did find out that the team gives me the wetsuit so I don't have to worry about that expense. My dad is really excited that I'm doing it. His triathlon is the day after mine so he will come cheer me on then I will go cheer him on. I'm really lookin forward to it and glad that I'll be able to train w/ my dad. Maybe during training I can start planting the little seed in his head of letting me work at the business! hehe

Thanks for all the welcomes ya'll!!! With great support like this, I should be the svelte woman waiting to get out in the very NEAR future! :-).
bqueen: Thank you for all the good advice and I'd love to be on your "friends" if I can just figure it out. I'll see if I can get on it this weekend. Take care and everyone keep on keepin' on! :-)

hi every one I'm just wanting to let you all know I fell off the wagon yesterday and have been on an almost continuous binge now for about two days straight. WHy can't I get this right?????
I work so hard to take some off I get to an all new low weight that I haven't seen in a while and then I throw in the towel and think wow I can afford to eat any old way again. I am so frustrated and don't know why this is happening. well something good has come from this I don't want to even think about my scale never mind get on it and I haven't weighed today cause I'm afraid I won't like what I see. Iknow I sound pitifull and I always run in here to cry after the damage is done. Why can't I see it coming and come here before hand? Some one suggested to me oa, Does any one know anything about that. My friend said maybe I need the person to person support. I don't know I really like it here If I could just get this right. oh well I am in for a long weekend and I don't have to weigh in till wednesday . I feel like throwing in the towel but I do know I have to face my self later
maybe better luck tomorrow

sorry mabear you're having such a hard struggle. It's good you stayed off the scale and you can start tomorrow eating right again and I bet those 2 days shouldn't mess you up as bad as you might think. I went to oa years ago and I did find it helpful. I would recommend you at least try one meeting and see if you like it. I've considered going back myself.
kt...vicodin can be such a help. Just make sure you keep up your fluids and fiber because it can constipate you. Some people find they have less appetite when they're on it so hey, maybe you'll lose a bit from it. I'm real weird, vicodin makes me want to clean house so when I have to take it for pain my house gets a good cleaning!
I went to goodwill after work and found a pair of jeans that fit perfect and I got them for $3.49! Orange tag today was half price. They are size 24 and I was wearing 28's so that was a cool thing. Before I tried them on I held them up and thought, no way these are going to fit and they did! I was just so excited I had to come tell you guys!

mabear - None of us see it coming ... binges always seem to blind-side you. And don't worry about sounding pitiful, that's what we're here for. I sounded pretty pitiful myself this afternoon. And you probably didn't do as much damage as you think. It was only a couple of days. There's still time to get back on track. In the words of Scarlett O'Hara , "Tomorrow is another day".
Congrats on the size 24 pants blue! Going to goodwill, by the way, is a great idea. I am wearing clothes that are WAY too big for me because I don't want to waste money on new clothes that might not fit me anymore in a couple of weeks :) ! I bought 2 nice tops this past winter, tried them on for the first time the other day and they were about 2 sizes too big. They're brand new ... what a waste! Guess I'll drop them off at Goodwill, LOL. Too bad I didn't keep some of my fat clothes the last time I lost weight. Then maybe I'd have something to wear now. I think I only kept from size 14 down. I have just about every size under that. I even have some size 8s! I have a feeling though, that they'll be going to goodwill too. There is NO WAY IN HELL that I'll ever get into a size 8 again. Hey, we should start some kind of clothing exchange program on CC.com ... what do ya think?
hee hee, thats a good idea bell. I told my sister I would let her have my fat pants. She was not amused because she wears a size 18 and I think she wants to avoid taking my 28's. She lost 50 lbs on ww about 5 yrs ago and she gained it all back and is still gaining. We are so merciless with each other! lol. Hey if I keep going maybe I can use her skinny pants eventually! Boy, that would be too mean.
Just checking in to say hello to everyone and do my accounting.
Yesterday, under 1500 calories, walked a mile after work, 7884 steps on the pedometer.
Today, 5201 steps, 1390 calories. Dinner was baked chicken, green beans, rice and a salad. Lunch was a Lean Cuisine meal, afternoon snack a granola bar, and breakfast was a Quaker Oatmeal breakfast cookie. Pretty good cookie for breakfast.
