HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!

Serena, I do not go by any chart anymore for my goal weight! I was aneroxic in high school at 135 for my height I was a bone. These outdated ideas of what our goals should be really need to be burned. There can be two 5"8" tall women and have completely different builds, bone structure, etc. It is ridicolous to say every single person that height should be this weight. Part of this is taking our power back. WE have been totally brain washed in this society about image, weight etc. My goal is 175 this site tells me 148! First off, I would never be 148 again in my life and frankly I don't want to be that. I would be a string bean! When I as at 175, I am a size 14/12, look great and everyone thinks I weight 25 pounds less. I can carry weight really well.
YOU figure out the right weight for YOU. Don't let some old man in a white coat dictate to you how much you should weigh! We have got to get over this idea that one size fits all. It doesn't work that way in any other area of our lives why are we saying it does here! It really gets me goin, I am sure you can tell!

Wow! I haven't been able to post for a day or so and it looks like the board has been busy! Welcome to all the new folks!
While I was at WalMart yesterday I decided to pick up their generic version of the One A Day Weight Smart vitamins, since some of you had had some sucess with it. They finally had the Kashi Cherry Dark Chocolate granola bars back in stock, so I bought 3 boxes so I wouldn't run out! If you guys haven't tried these, they are to die for! Only 120 calories, 7 whole grains, and they actually taste great! Both of the stores in my town were out of them for a month (they must be popular), so I vowed that when they got them again I would buy plenty. I was going to buy fancy paperclips for the paperclip challenge, but they only had HUGE colored clips that were $2.50 a box - I decided just to use my good ol' silver ones that I already have at home! <G>
Oh, another nice thing that I've discovered at WalMart is that they have a Sugar Free instant oatmeal from their Great Value brand that only has 100 calories per packet. The directions say to make it with water, but I substitute with skim milk instead for added calcium and flavor and it only adds 43 calories. It has really helped me save some calories and stay full all morning!
I think I'm going to have to schlep out to the barn to get my scales so that I can start weighing myself on a weekly basis. (The scales are in the barn so we can use them to weigh our lambs - we weigh ourselves, then pick up the lamb and re-weigh and subtract.) But it's pouring outside today and that doesn't really sound like fun! Oh well, I really want to know where I stand! I used to be able to weigh myself at work whenever I wanted on really reliable scales (I worked as a vet tech), but now that I'm home with the baby I'm back to the good ol' house scales - I just never seem to trust them!
Keep up the good work, y'all! Especially those going on retreats and trips this weekend - that's the hardest time but you can do it! Hopefully I'll have a good report when I dig out those scales!

Good morning everyone!
hrdnaussies - I just bought some multi-vitamins too. The Diet Smart one except my store's brand. I didn't know people were having success with it, I better search it out. I figured why not, I could use all the vitamins and if it helps a little with weight loss, even better!
I've recently discovered the Diet Snapple popsicles and new yogurt from Danone called Cardivia. The popsicles are only 15 calories a stick and the yogurt is 60 calories per 100 grams. Both are great because I can snack healthy. The other thing is the yogurt is sooo yummy, I can substitute it for dessert.
I thought I'd share these new finds with you guys.
rockinmama - How'd the weigh in go??
urbanrose - Haven't seen you for a while...where ya been?
Angelo - Welcome!
Violet - Welcome!
Hmmm....did I forget anyone? I'm sorry if I did but, welcome to you too!
I hope everyone has a great day and keep counting those calories.

Thanks Tully! I think your right - I was a size 8/10 in college @ 165. I would be happy @ a size 8. More importantly, I would be happy to get up a flight of stairs w/o huffing and puffing.
On another note:
I've been exploring this website and this counting calorie website is pretty cool. I like the fact that it takes everything in your food log for the day and gives you your nutrition grade for the day.
Today is Friday and someone brings in Dunkin Donuts every Friday. Well .... I looked one of those babies up and WHOA!!!! So, I haven't had one - it helps knowing that I gotta put everything I eat into that food log. Hopefully all the donuts are gone before I go to the pantry again.
hrdnaussies = I typically don't eat breakfast and am trying to find something easy (and good) to grab on the go. Your Kashi Bars may just do the trick. Thanks!

Hello everyone! Happy dance time. I lost 2 lbs! Now 219 lbs. Finally got away from 221 and I hope it never comes back. I was major stressed about weighing myself...Gotta stop that right now. I'm in this for the long haul so it shouldn't matter what that scale says. But sadly for me it still does...:( Hope everyone is having a super day! Welcome all new ones....can't keep track anymore...wish I could though. I do try to read all the posts though. You are all so encouraging and motivating..Keep it up girls and boys.
Jeez, I was on here late yesterday afternoon...you guys have been busy!!
Well, my lil'V is sick. I really gotta run out and get those vitamins before I catch it! She didn't even want me to leave her side this AM. I called in and have been trying to get her to take a nap all morning. She is really fighting that. She's holding her food down now, last night she didn't.
Rockinmama, I am so excited to hear about your accomplishment! Oh I've been worried about you all night too. Now make sure to keep a big grin of pride for being able to make it through this hurdle. :)

serena---I was terrified when I saw someone brought donuts into work yesterdya! I figured I deserved a treat so I took half of one and it totally satisfied my sweet tooth.
I'm a little annoyed b/c I've been having trouble reaching my 1600 cals a day for a few days now and I think it's the reason why my weight isn't going down. Last week I only lost .6 pounds adn so far this week I've only lost .4 pounds. So this weekend I'm planning to be super active and hopefully shed some pounds!
congrats to rockinmama! 2 pounds is way better than a plateau! haha
I'm thinkin of goign out and buying some of those 1 a day weight smarts now! Every little tip helps!
well, off to get everything ready for camping and go buy the stuff I don't have yet. I'll talk to you all later today before I take off!

hrdnaussies- Awww little lambs. are you getting lots this spring...soooo cute. I've gotta try the One a Day Weight smart vitamins. Everyone is raving about them. Going to town this weekend so maybe I'll pick some up too.
kt and itsmytime- remember to have fun this weekend. Just because we are watching what we eat doesn't mean we don't have fun. Fun means lots of activity and you can definately do that camping. Enjoy your weekend.
hyechong- Diet Snapple popsicles sound yummy....and at only 15 cals. a stick? Woooo Hoooo let me at em? Gonna have to look for those. weighin went great. Scared of the scale for nothing....*blushing **** 2 lbs lost....YAY!
vk- Aww hope li'l V is feeling better real soon. So hard on them when they're sick. Thanks for worrying about me....I feel really stupid now....*blushin again*** that I ranted on like it was the end of the world. Yes I made it through the hurdle but couldn't have done it without all the wonderful people on this board and on other boards too! Thanks.
serena and kt- Congrads on the donut thingy. Sometimes just a little is better then depriving ourselves totally. For me depends what it is. A donut....yay just a little I can handle....Chips....no way....can't have just a little cause I always go overboard...always...so I have to stay away from those...at least for awhile until I can get them out of my system. Enjoy your camping too! Oh, All bran bars are really nice for breakfast too!

rockinmama - If you live in the states, they have a Popsicle brand of sugar free/low calorie popsicles. I love these too but, since moving to Canada I haven't been able to find them. So, I was happy to find the Diet Snapple popsicles.
I have a question for everyone, when is the best time to weigh yourself??
I have a question for everyone, when is the best time to weigh yourself??
My doctor has told me first thing in the morning, after peeing. Also, that you stay consistent with whatever time you pick.
Off to camp I go! Gee I think I already burned mondo calories from goin up and down the stairs loading things into my car! I'm super excited! Gotta go run tons of errands for the last minute things we need and then I'm off! Hope everyone has a great weekend and your weather is as beautiful as our northern california weather has been this month! Everyone keep your fingers crossed that I don't get blown away in my tent :)
Have a blast, Kt!!
Wow...I have not posted in 24 hours I am missed a ton...lol.
I am going to have to buy some of the Weight Smart vitamins as well...having Epstein Barr, I should be taking a multi-vitamin anyway, but with thyroid medication, BP medication, and "happy" pills, I just don't want to take anything else...I have read the success stories, though, so one more pill won't kill me!! :)
I was 224 this morning which is 2 pounds for me...still struggling with the good eating because I don't feel good...the symptoms seem like allergies but if so, they are worse than ever...I am miserable. Atuffy head, runny nose, coughing, achy chest, headache, low-grade fever...who has allergies like that?
I am going out tomorrow and will also pick up some paper clips. I should feel better by Sunday or Monday and I plan on jumping back on the wagon hot and heavy...there might not be a huge loss this week, but look out...here comes tami!!
And those popsicles...I can't wait to go shopping!!
Welcome to everyone I have missed...and hugss...and thanks for all the support, each and every one of you! I could not do this without all of you!!!

rockinmama - we're not having any lambs this spring, unfortunately. I decided not to breed my ewes this fall because I didn't want to deal with lambing right after having a baby of my own! I'm already looking forward to next year's lambs - it's my favorite time.
Y'all will love this one - I mangaged to make it out to the barn while the baby was napping, brought in the scale, scrubbed it clean, turned it on and stepped right up. Low battery. Okay, I flip it over and undo the battery cover. It takes those little lithium disc batteries and they're held in my a little metal clip. I take the batteries out, switch them spots (that sometimes works for a little bit - at least with the remote!), and pop them back in. Still low battery reading. So I go to take the batteries out so I can take them to the store when I buy more - and the darned little metal clip breaks clean off! Now the scale won't work at all even if I have new batteries! Guess who gets to buy a brand new scale today...

hrd...sounds like someone did not want you to weigh yesterday...but hey, a brandnew scale is good too...:)
My son is in 4-H and the best time of season is when all the baby goats are born. They are so cute and so much fun and the kids are all so excited. Bobby does not have a goat this year but it is his goal for next year. he is 14 but only been in the club a couple of years and I told him he needed more responsibility before taking on a goat. Besides, I am not sure I could go through all of it and then know someone was going to kill it after fair...would hurt me but he is so tender hearted, it would kill him too...we shall see!! I am sure the lambs are equally adorable!

I am going by measurements right now. I tried weighing the month I was on ww and it was just too stressful and upsetting. Due to hormones, the weight was all over the place. It caused me to go into really bad eating habits. So, if anyone has the same issue I recommend doing measurements for now and than maybe 6 months down the road start weighing. At the end of the day, it is just a number. We look the same in the mirror no matter what the scale says. In overcoming overeating they tell you to throw the scale away. I tend to agree. OK, don't call me a heretic now!
I had a blueberry bagle for breakfast and I won't be doing that again. Did not realize how many calories and it got a C on the chart. Along with my peanutbutter I will have to do some extra working out today if I am hungry! I am really enjoying how they grade the food. Yesterday I got a B for my choices. It made me really feel good! Anyway, I am over 200 but won't know my weight for awhile. I mean I know my weight now because i did weigh myself but now for a while it will be a mystery, ewww!! Blessing, Tully

Tully, you are such a heretic. Lol I'm kidding...I couldn't pass up messing with that. More power to you! Whatever works for you then do it full steam ahead. Do you know inch-wise what your goal is? I read where a woman regularly cuts a piece of yarn the size of her waist...and as she is going she hands them alongside each other to see her progress. Ha, another visual!
Well, right now my goal is it for just to go down, damit! LOL
I am just really feeling good not binging this week, making healthy choices and feeling really blessed I found this web site. I don't know what it is but I feel soo much more motivated and supported here than ww. I am not worrying about the numbers right now just losing anything will be a step forward!
