If I over eat one day can i skimp the next?
Im sure this questions been asked before.... sorry for this...
Yesterday I went wayyy over board on banana pie and a few tortillas with pb and jelly... and other things... eating around 4000 calories...
Can I safely eat only a few hundred for the next few days to even it out? And I will make sure my cal intake for the week is still around 1200.
Is this ok? or should I just eat the 1200 each day...
thx for your help :)
We all have days when we overindulge. The best and most healthy thing to do is to go immediately back to your normal healthy habits. Feast and famine isn't a good choice. Now, if you want to boost your morale, try an extra workout, or eating the right amount of cals, but super healthy for a few days.
got it :) thanks for your help plaidpooka!
You can't really "even it out" without damaging your health. And the most likely result of keeping yourself to a few hundred calories a day is that you'll end up bingeing and falling into the same cycle over again.
hah true that probly would happen! guess ill go eat something! :) thx cosmo
As one offs its fine and yes you can repent over the rest of the week. If you did this regularly and did bingeing and then not eating, long term it can contribute to diabetes risk so not a good idea long term but once in a while is fine. 4000 calories though, holy cow bet you had a good time. I thought that my pub lunches at 1600 were bad!
Ahh...not really.
What you can do is zigzag your cals.
One day they are the lowest you should go,
the next they are a few hundred higher than that.
Then the day after theyre a bit lower.
Apparantly it helps to keep your metabolism running? I dunno. Check it out.
but in terms of eating 4000 then eating like 400, no.
A slip is a slip and everyone has them. Most will pick themselves up and carry on. If you were in a situation where the food available was in an enjoyable, one-off or rare occasion social setting and you enjoyed the atmosphere over the focus on food then particularly don't worry. If you overate to a degree it could be classed as binge eating - a sudden, out-of-control eating pattern, and eating beyond satiety or despite your mind going "Why am I still eating?" - then you may need to consider why it happened.
One fool-proof step is to make sure you eat enough for your needs. Use CC's tools to work out your BMR so you have a number to work from for your diet: http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-bur ned.php. Don't have a defecit from your burn over 1000 and no less than 1200 a day - and 1200 is usually only right for a small, short, sedentary woman. So if you're not short, small or sedentary, you'll need more.
