Over 50 - I'm new and would love to know others who have my same challenges
I'm 52 and have struggled with my weight since my mid to late twenties. I've been on several diets over the years and all I have managed to do is yoyo my weight. I started out only 30lbs over weight and now, well lets just say it's a whole lot more. Since hitting my 50's it seems like losing weight is the hardest thing to do. My energy level has gone on the decline.
One thing I have learned over the years is that dieting doesn't work long term, and that there are a lot of health issues that some diets can bring on. So now I am trying to eat the foods I like but in portion control sizes and staying very much aware of the carb and calorie amounts in each food. I know I have to limit the simple carbs. So far, since I started dieting I have lost 13lbs, 12 of those pounds before I started on this site.
Anyone who would like to add me to their friends list are welcome to do so. I'd love to have others I can share progress and pitfalls with. Motivation keeps us going.
Hi jvanse and welcome. Tell us a little about yourself. How is weight watchers going? I just love this site for all the support one can give and receive. So many times we need a little support and it's nice to be able to turn to someone who completely understands where we are coming from.
Welcome again, I have added you to my friends list please feel free to add me as well.

Hi Karen and Penny,
I found you! The other sight has been very quiet. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I hope all is well. I've tagged this forum so I'll be around.
Be healthy,
Marie
Hi Marie, how are you doing? I feel like I have been out of the loop myself this week. Hope to catch up with everyone this weekend.

Hi Karen and Marie,
I am home sick again today. I'm usually not a wimp but good heavens this one is persistent. I went to school yesterday and had a parent group to attend in the evening. Came home wiped out and a mess again this morning. Will try again tomorrow. I've done zero exercise since Thursday. I hope to be in better health and spirits soon.

Penny,
I'm coming over in 10 minutes with a box of kleenex and some homemade chicken soup! Seriously, if I could, I would. Feel better soon.
I am improving on my walking and my food. Keeping my calories to where they should be to lose, not maintain. Walking at 16 minute/mile. The sun finally broke through those nasty rain clouds. Life is good!
Marie
Hey Penny,
I am so sorry you are not feeling well. This year has been a mess for everyone. We've had schools close because of the flu. Can you imagine closing a whole school down because of a flu, pretty serious stuff so take good care of yourself.
Marie, I'll take some chicken soup. :o) it sounds so good. I've had some short bouts but nothing that got a real hold on me.
Take care of yourself and get better soon.

Hi Karen and Marie,
I've been catching your posts on the Geterdone thread. Belated thanks for the sympathy. I'm pulling out of a self pity party and have decided to set one day mini goals. I have today off so will get things done around the house but I plan to go for a walk this afternoon.
Take care
Penny
Hey Penny sorry I haven't gotten back to you here. I haven't gone into this thread lately. How have you been feeling? I am so glad that spring is starting to get here. I am so tired of the winter and cold weather. It's been rainy here but the temps have been up, so it's not so bad.
Karen
Hi Yarroc,
I found your Feb. and March posts in the library - and really identified with them. I'm wondering if you are still active on CC. I'd be interested to know how you are doing now. I'm older by 12 years, but have had similar challenges all my life. I'd like to hear from you.
I am new here also. Need to loss 21 pounds and really nervous I cannot keep on track. My job is demanding and when I sit at my desk I am always snacking. After a good lunch I crave sweet and salt...any suggestions?
