Any over 50's out there?????

Quote  |  Reply

I'm looking for people over 50 who have been dieting their whole lives who are now trying the Calorie-count website. I have 58 pounds to lose and I've done it before:) I have been to nutritionists because of my high cholesterol, high blood sugar and high blood pressure. I had more success with the nutritionist who stressed the "head" part of losing weight and the "why" part of overeating. I am definitely a binge eater. I would love to "talk" to people in the same category. I have a shelf full of books on the subject and unfortunately, my favorite nutritionist has moved out of state. Is anybody out there in the same unanchored boat?

I am not 50,I am 29.Just like you, I've been dieting for a long time.(I was an overweight child).I've been up and down the scale in the last 5 years.108 to 215 lbs.I have a tendency to over eat/binge eat.I have high cholestorol as well.I am trying to get my eating and cholestorol under control.Yep,I have shelves full of books too.I haven't seen a nutritionist yet.Just doctors.Well, welcome and keep your head up.You'll lose those 58 pounds.Just have faith.

Thanks for the encouragement. I hope we both do it this time!

Hi, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I just turned 54 and have been dieting all my life.  I really don't consider myself dieting but just trying to get healthy now.  I have had blood pressure problems.  For the past year I have been walking religiously and have managed to lose about 20 pounds but I can't seem to budge much on the scales any more.  I did try to incorporate weight training and believe it did help but since have stopped that again.  I need motivation.

Hi, This is my first post so I hope I don't screw it up.

I am 55 and also need to lose 55 pounds. I have also done it before- and every time I do my high gets higher and my low doesn't quite make it. I used to be more active but have has surgery on both knees so the body just doesn't cooperate like it used to. Just found this site a couple of days ago and am hoping it will provide the motivation I need to get at it again.

Hi - I would be more than happy to try and help...I started my lifestyle change when I was 48 and 210lbs (I am 50 and 140lbs right now) and have kept the 70 lbs that I lost off...I am by far not an expert - nor do I claim to want to be one...but I know what has worked for me...and I have coached others...if you want just email me and I can throw you some ideas...I will be more than happy to help...bottom line is dont give up...take your time...it took a long time to get to where you are so dont expect over night results...it should take time to get to where you want to go.  With each success there may be a failure along the way however, if you stay the course you will triumph in the end!

i'm 50 & i lost 86 pounds with CC.  it's weird.  i've only dieted before & gained it all back & more.  this time i changed my lifestyle.  it's awesome!  :D

if you check my profile, there's an over 50's board where we all talk alot.

good luck!

I am 47 and have 70lbs to lose.  I'd sure be grateful for some support/advice from ladies in my age bracket...especially if you are taking/have taken HRT and successfully lost weight.  I am so discouraged right now, I cannot even express it.  I was doing quite well (lost 25lbs)...started HRT because of night sweats, hot flashes and horrendous mood swings.  I feel great...but all the weight I lost is back and I'm not making any progress losing it again.
