Over 60's (is there a group for me)

I would love to chat with mature women.  Not for prejudicial reasons, but I believe our hormones are different enough that it should be reflected in our diet and exercise.

What exercise... in this freezing weather I haven't been doing any at all, although I do walk my dog.

There sure is!  Look in the Lounge for the Senior Corner Thread.  You'll find the age and stage that suits you.  There are a lot of us 60+s here, and we do have our unique problems and questions.  I hope to see you there!  And don't be afraid to start your own thread either.  Just because there is one doesn't mean we don't need to get another discussion going.

Welcome!

Hi Fransen.  I'm 61, newly retired (almost 8 months) and loving it.  I've struggled with my weight for 9 years (had surgery) and find it so hard to achieve results.  It seems to me that the older I get the slower my metabolism is, along with medications that are necessary for me also causing weight gain.

I live in Ontario, Canada and right now outside exercise is so not appealing to me - lots of snow and cold, so I walk on my treamill, do a walking DVD (Leslie Sansome - not sure of spelling of her last name) and use stretchy bands.  So far I haven't lost much weight (18 lbs in the past year) but I have lost some inches and certainly feel better.

thanks Brock... Nice to meet you... I am also from Canada.

One of the things that kept me from doing anything before now, is that due to a very bad partner choice who rearranged my face, I didn't feel good enough about myself to care how I looked.  Embarassed  He died a couple of years back and so, I started to think about removing all traces of him from me.  I had some plastic surgery, quit smoking, sold the house and left that community.

I live in a condo in a North Vancouver Island city, and although I can't just wander around in the wild with my dog and no one else in site, the condo allows me to pack up and go quickly and easily.  Winter here isn't as cold as yours, but it is 10 times wetter and therefore exercise is not that appealing outdoors right now here either.

I have  been continuing with a bit of contract work for my old employer, while he and the girls learned to live without me.  Today I did a bit of work and after installing a new network printer, decided to update the printer and report choices in the accounting section.  I found the passwords changed.  That was a blow to my ego even though it was me that suggested it when I was training her.  Cry

While I love not having to rush off in the morning, not sure I like not being needed by anyone anymore. Undecided Another thing that I notice, is that before if I overspent, I just worked a few more hours to earn more.  Now there is nowhere to go for more, and I worry that there won't be enough.  Life is just full of little adjustments isn't it.
