I have been really going over my sodium counts. I am on an average eating 4500mg a day. I know its way over the limits. Is this the reason my weight keeps just fluctuating? Does drinking water negate this?

Salt will make you bloat & water weight gain. As for fluctuating, we do that naturally. Water will help, but won't negate the double salt intake.
ABSOLUTELY! When your body retains water (which is does when you consume too much salt), it also goes into storage mode, which means it starts storing your food as fat too.
The key to successful dieting (my nutritionist tells me) is to keep your metabolism going strong. Too much salt in your diet makes your metabolism sluggish, not to mention it's really bad for your heart.
Try cutting out prepared foods and cheese---that should lower your sodium.

While I agree wholeheartedly with Demama and Tarnishau, Sometimes (like when out on the town with friends or at a picknick) you can't avoid sodium so just remember to live life too.
I had a weekend of it this last weekend where no matter WHAT i ate I could not keep my sodium level down.
It was 98 degrees ALL WEEKEND and my husband asked me NOT to use the stove or oven so I had to resort to prepared foods. I was eating healthy and stayed within my caloric allowance but couldn't keep my sodium down. I drank 128 oz water each day and to be honest, I did see a 5lb gain on Monday, but that was gone by Yesterday. :)
