Maintaining
Moderators: iae

I know that everyone has/had their struggles while trying to lose weight and I was wondering, since most of you are maintaining, how did you get past what was holding you back from losing weight??

I'm really trying to develop healthy eating habits but once I week I go crazy and eat about 3000 calories by devouring an entire package of something... lately it's been ritz crackers...

any encouraging words or advice for those of us trying to get these healthy habits down??

thanks in advance!!

Eating more than normal or eating unhealthily from time to time is perfectly OK in a generally healthy diet.  'Naturally slim people' do it all the time.   But, to stay in some kind of control, make it a conscious decision, plan your treat and enjoy it thoroughly.   The less you try to be ultra perfect the less you'll be less likely to splurge.
I agree with gi-jane. I'm maintaining and my food log is RIDDLED with 3000+ days.  Lots of them.  The rest, if I am lucky, are under 2500.  Seems to be okay though, for maintaining.

thank you :) I'm going to try harder to make sure I know what I'm doing rather than mindlessly eating 6 cookies... I have to stop depriving myself of things so I won't overdo them at a later time... moderation is key :)

thanks again! You were both very helpful!

Krrpt08 - they definitely have the right idea.  I don't take a bag or box of pack of anything out of my pantry unless it's a single serving package.  Everything I go to eat goes into tupperware containers that I can choose any size of.  Especially when I pack my lunch it helps me only eat what I've chosen that morning (when I'm sort of sane) to eat.  Good luck!

Here is a good tip I heard.

Never eat straight out of the box/bag/container. Grab a few put them on a napkin/bowl/plate etc. It will help you relaize ho much you're eating as opossed to just eating until there isn't anymore.
