From an overeater to a calorie-counter, post your successful story

Quote  |  Reply

I was a calorie-counter last year. For some reasons and because of stress at work and personal life, I turned to an overeater. Everytime, I go counting calories, it lasts for 7-10 days, then I overeat again.

does anybody have any successful experience to share? I find the transition is very hard.

i lost 84 pounds in the past year & i still overeat often.  we all have our good days & our bad days.  just remember that this is a lifestyle change & not a diet.

just start off with some simple changes that you can live with for the rest of your life.

l am new to calorie counter the website, l was going to go to weightwatchers when l came upon this site. So far it has been working ok, it has been almost 3 weeks now. l haven't lost a huge amount of weight, started working out last week but my endurance has increased, not easily out of breath and my heart hasn't been racing like it was before l started on this journey, my blood sugar has stayed low and l am not easily fatigued like l was a month ago. But it is a struggle to choose the right foods sometimes, like today l was craving pecan pie...lol l dont allow myself to eat white flour or any refined flour anymore and l eat a lot veggies now, my 8yr old now insists on eating every meal with veggies. l guess something good might coming out of this. But hang in there Safina1 you are not alone in this struggle.

I joined this web site in February and I have never left. Before I found this web site I lost 50lbs then I stalled and did nothing for a solid year.  Since then I've lost another50lbs and it's been up and down.  I just know that if I over do it, I take responsibility and keep counting.  One or two bad days isn't going to screw with my new lifestyle.  (Or my new skinny self)

I am still an overeater but now I try to plan for it.  I love roasted veggies with heavy seasonings, I can eat a lot of that without any damage.  I eat air- popped popcorn with spay butter when I want to eat a whole big bowl of something.  If I want a pizza I buy a frozen one or I make a crust and I load it with all kinds of veggies and maybe just a little meat and lots of low and fat free cheeses.  I add up everything before I make it so I can add up to the very last calorie and then I try to eat very light the other 2 meals.

I won't deny myself anything, when it comes to food nothing is off limits but I add everything up and if I'm in a losing streak then it easy not to want it.  Or I save certain things for special occasions.

Turkey day is one day that will be a free for all.  I'm not going to count anything but on the same note I don't plan on getting stupid.  Friday I'll weigh in and get back on the wagon.

It's okay to overeat every 7 - 10 days as long as the next day you go back to drinking lots of water and start counting again.  I think of it as a modified zig zag of your calories so your body won't go into starvation mode.

I'm sorry I've been rambleing.  I hope some of this helps.  Best of luck you can do this.

Safina!

I am going through the same EXACT thing right now!  I desire to loose some weight, get toned... and rehab my shoulder from a recent injury.  I can hang in there for about a week and then I overeat!

My rationale at first was maybe I was being too strict on myself overall, and that is leading to the overeating.  Now, I think it is more emotionally derived.  I went away from calorie counter for a while, not tracking calories and just trying to eat conservatively each day instead of stressing and dealing with facts and figures.. still overate last week.  And then it happened again today.  Look at my log for today and you can see what happened.  Luckily, I had a friend drag me out later in the day to exercise and it really turned my mood around.

I don't know if you mean overeat by just a few too many calories or you mean more binging.   I looked online and found that there is overeaters anon and they have local meeting nationwide.

Stay in touch and keep me posted with your progress.  Maybe we can be a support network for each other ? :)
