Overweight and Pregnant?
Hello all,
Congratulations to all of you who are pregnant, have given birth or lost weight!
I am very new to this site and forum. I am presently overweight and also 37 years of age. I became pregnant 4 months ago (while on IUD) my DH and I were very happy, as we were planning on ttc (trying to concieve) the following month anyway. Unfortunately, I had an ectopic pregnancy and loss the baby at 6 weeks. We have recently been given the ok to begin ttc again soon. However, I am concerned as I am quite heavier than i look. I am 310 and 5'9". I want to lose some weight before ttc again, but by the time im down to what is considered "my healthy weight" i will be 40! Which is not favorable to me. Pls help? Anyone have a somewhat healthy diet and excersise regime that has worked for them? Pls share...
You need to talk to your doctor. I'm 5'10" and I was over 250 pounds both time I was got pregnant... and it went okay, but added a lot of stress to my body (and you're at a higher risk factor for some possible complications such as gestational diabetes etc...)
Your doctor can help you determine which risk factors are greater for you... an overweight pregancy and/or an older pregnancy.
If you do get pregnant overweight, your doctor can help you determine your diet while pregnant. I basically attempted (under the advise and supervision of my doctor) to keep my total weight gain during pregnancy under 10 pounds both times around.
Considering putting your family on hold to gain a healthier body for pregancy is a really tough decision to have to make.
Really, see your doctor and talk it out with them. Good luck!!!
Thanks for the reply,
I have spoken to my GP. She recommended to try lose some weight now, but if i become pregnant now to put me back on the diet i was on While pregnant with my first (i had Gest.D). My daughter was a healthy 7lb 11oz, 8 years ago. But ive gained since then. Im on lower carb diet and starting excersise program now. I will be 38 next month and really dont want to put off the family planning for much longer. i know...Tough decision eh? Anyhow, thanks again for responding.
