overwhelmed and could use a little motivation.
So here I am reading all these different posts about eating and working out and I am just overwhelmed. I am 27 5'1'' in a half and 121.4 as of this morning. I just want to see 110-115 again with what i call a dream weight of 105. I just dont know what the right type of exercise is to do, how much aerobic how much strengh training weight lifting etc. I pretty much have the food area under control, I average 1200 calories a day somtimes 1400 on the weekends. I dont even know how many times or the amount of time to workout anymore. I just need a little advice and a little motivation to calm my over-obsessive mind.
Calm down. You are in a healthy weight category, so what you are trying to lose are "vanity pounds", that's okay . . . but there's no reason to obsess or rush since you are already at a healthy weight.
A general exercise plan for good health includes 3 x 30 minutes of cardio a week and 2-3 x 30 minutes of weights. You may want to focus on weights more since you are probably wanting more tone. Check out the fitness forum or the "Exercise" tab for some routines to get you started.
You will need to eat more than 1200 calories a day once you start working out. Change your profile to "light" or "moderate activity" or check out this site here to determine how much to eat.
It is overwhelming. And the more overwhelming part is that we're not all the same person so different things work for different people!
You'll just have to start with small changes - track your progress and see if it is working - and if it isn't - you'll have to change more! If whatever you choose to start out with does work - you're one of the lucky ones who got it first try! ;)
tmck99's got the right idea about exercise. Make sure if you're doing strength training you only strength train every other day to give your muscles time to repair themselves inbetween workouts.
Depending on how much you workout currently - ? - you might need to add in cardio more often than 3x's/week - but not if you aren't exercising currently.
Don't obsess. Just try things out and keep an eye on if they are working or not. And make sure your 1200 calories are nutritious ones too!
Good luck & good health!
