Who owns a Food Scale?
I got one for $20- you can find them online or in department stores.
It's extremely useful. I can constantly reset the scale and use one bowl to measure and mix things together without having to make several measuring cups dirty.
YESSSSS VERY useful. I have digital one i got for $35 at sears. I weigh ALL my food to get accurate calorie counting!!!!!!!

I think I got it for around $10-$15 dollars at the grocery store.
You can find really cheap ones, but I always wish I would save enough money to invest in a digital food scale.. that would be amazing. But otherwise, the manual ones are great (:!
Get a digital version with a Tare function.
Tare allows you to zero out the weight of the container the food is weighed on.
I got mine at ww. I just walked in and bought that I wasn't a member. I find it very useful.
Twice a week I cook chicken and I measure out 3 ounce portions and store them in my frig. (Not digital)
I got my Salter digital scale at Kitchen Kapers and paid about $40 for it. There's a grams to ounces conversion and also liquid conversion. The tolerance is 5 grams or 1/4 ounce.
It's indespensible. I like the flat weighing surface because I can put my plate or bowl right on it as I'm serving or mixing. I put the plate or mixing bowl on and zero it out, then add each food, zero it out and add the next thing.
I have the most basic that I could find - it was $4.29 at Linen's n Things.
I agree with what everyone else has said, it is really eye opening to see what you have been misjudging and which measuring cups are inaccurate. For instance, 1 ounce of Cheerios (1 cup according to the box) goes quite a bit past the one cup mark on my measuring cup. My scale has a dial so you can use any container and set it to zero before adding the food.
