how much, exactly? I don't have those envelopes of yeast, but my recipe calls for "1 envelope active dry yeast". All I have is a big bag from Costco (we do a lot of baking!) so how many teaspoons is that? Or tablespoons?
A 1/4 -ounce packet of active dry yeast contains approximately 2-1/2 teaspoons; the measurement will not be exact as yeast is packaged according to weight, but for baking purposes and for logging in your food log, 1-1/2 tsp is close enough.
It's usually 7 grams.
on the little bottle I have (Fleischmann's, I think) it says that 1 envelope = 2.25 tsp.
Hmm...I used 1 1/2 tsp of yeast in my pizza dough, and it rose ok, but not as much as expected. Should I try 2 1/2 tsp next time?
