Any Pagans out there?

Quote  |  Reply
There are a number of Christian chats out there but I can't find any of my sisters and brothers in faith! I would love to hear how all you heathens out there perhaps integrate your faith with your healthy lifestyle.

I'm a follower of the older Celtic faiths. I really like how this faith deals with the balance in all aspects of life eg; human and nature, body and soul, man and woman, God and Goddess. Looking at life this way really helps me deal with the day to day when I realize that even if I have a really bad day I will eventually have a great day to make up for it. Just my thoughts:)

I would love to here your take on life and all its Mysteries.

FYI next new moon is August 12 next full is August 28(My birthday weekend!)

Watch out I'm gonna be all riled up!!!
That is exactly want I was going to say v8, If you want a bigger one buy one of the column poles for a porch. Robyn, I teach at public school, that's why I say I'm mulit-denom. I don't care what religion anyone is but they sure take offense to my beliefs and they don't even ask what they are.  Do you know kids now days don't even know what a May pole is. We had May pole in school when I was growning up in P.A. at public school back in the old days.
How many time have you told someone that you were Pagan and they either responded:

What's that?

or

Is that like being a Satanist?
my current boyfriend kept telling everyone i was an atheist for a while. i was like just because i don't believe in CHRISTIAN god doesn't mean i don't believe in anything! he just doesn't get it. i think a lot of people mistake pentacles for signs of devil worship. sad really.
Well I guess it's just something we have to live with:S There is so much ignorance out there. But I guess I should be happy that the old Gods and Goddesses are making a comeback! It's been hundreds of years since the Old Faith has been practised by so many people. I'm not trying to bash the Christians in any way but it has been a long time since we have been able to practice our faith without someone screaming devil worship!
it's a beautiful thing! what i don't get is how christians (and i do NOT want to start bashing anyone here) snicker about paganism, like "omg, how can you believe THAT! it's so silly!" when we are all thinking the exact same thing. they need to realize that just because people have followed a religion for a long time doesn't make it right, and doesn't make it stupid to believe something different. i just want to say ask questions, think thoughts, don't follow blindly people!!
I've always been interested in the Pagan beliefs as they seem to be the most connected with how I believe, but I've never practiced.

I was brought up catholic and I haven't been able to relate to that faith... ever.

I've found it hard to find people in my area that are pagan and would be willing to talk to me about it. Most in this area aren't very nice to people who aren't already calling themselves pagan. I'd love to have more information so I can make up my mind (or not, as the case may be)

Well, once again I'm not trying to bash anyone but, Christianity is easy. All you have to do is believe that Jesus Christ is your Saviour and that there is only one God and that Jesus is His son and that he died on the cross to save us etc,etc,etc...

But, this is where it gets deep folks!, What is belief?

Is it blind faith or is it more? I NEED to know deep down in my soul with no doubt in my mind that what I feel is the truth.

I have to many doubts in my soul to believe that the answer to life is that easy. There has to be something more. A soulfelt connection to this world and these people that we see everyday. Everything in the infinite cosmos has some unique quality so how can we wrap up the meaning of life into one neat little package and call it Jesus, or Allah, or Buhdda etc etc...?
rebepi Well-come!

Sorry to hear that you have Pagan snobs in your area:(

Unfortunately I have run into some groups like that to. Most of the time the reason they are like that is because it becomes like a little clique for them. And sometimes instead of actually having the faith it's more like an excuse for Halloween all year yound. I've known people who act more like they are in a theatre group than in a faith based fellowship.
Here's a little example of what I believe encase someone is looking and wondering what is going on.

Pagan classifation:  Neo-Paganism, movement of people to reconnect with nature, pre-christain religions or other nature based spiritual paths.

So people I am not sitting over my pot stirring boil and bubble.
Aww gypsie,

No double double toil and trouble? lol!

As silly as it may sound I have tried a little spell here and there. I realize that the positive results are more of a mental thing but they are ever so much fun!

I tell you what though, some of those herbs can do wonders for your sex life!! lol!!!
Mmmmm soup! :)
Hey, I'd welcome a little 'harry potter' into my life if I could!  I want me a WAND!
OK enough robyn your making me HUNGRY!! This site is supposed to help me lose weight!! lol
Hehe!  Sorry.  It is lunchtime though.  You are allowed to eat lunch.

That's a good idea about getting the closet rod for the may pole.  And ya, I TOLD you I was a bad witch.  Actually, when I tell people I'm a pagan it goes over really well when I start out with that.  I tell them I'm a witch but I'm a really bad one.  It's all better when you can laugh at yourself.

You want to hear something funny?  My son (8) sometimes goes to the lutheran church with my mom.  I tell her all the time she's not allowed to brainwash him.  He told me the other day that he wanted to believe in God, not Mother Earth.  OH the REBELLION! LOL!  Except, it probably isn't as rewarding when your mom says "OK, have fun."

I just read your post about the Druids and their beltaine fertility rites in the Religion post. Have you every seen the God that the chosen druid represents during that rite? Check this out!

The Christians decided that this is what Satan looks like when they came across the Celts. This is why pagans are associated with devil worship.
Ah-ha! I see you, you cute little Pagans, you! ;-)

How is/was your Lammas?

Anybody want some MEAD? I have some fermenting as we speak!
This is what I see when I think of Satan. www.adpulp.com/satan.jpg
MMMMMmmmmmm, MEAD!!!
Hehe, I think I'd get in trouble if I followed those links at work.

Mmmm I love honey Mead!!  I really like plum wine.  Of course, that could be because I've finally gotten out of 9 years of being pregnant or nursing and I can actually DRINK.  I think I was actually back to being an alcohol virgin or something.

We are pretty cute - but I don't know about little.  Have you ever noticed that there is a higher percentage or really overweight pagans?  Maybe it was just the group I was in.  Well, that and then there are all the vegetarians that are really skinny.  I still don't get how vegetarianism fits with paganism.  My comment still stands, plants are still life and deserve just as much respect as animals so I therefore can't be a vegetarian because I like plants too much to target just them.
