I'm a follower of the older Celtic faiths. I really like how this faith deals with the balance in all aspects of life eg; human and nature, body and soul, man and woman, God and Goddess. Looking at life this way really helps me deal with the day to day when I realize that even if I have a really bad day I will eventually have a great day to make up for it. Just my thoughts:)
I would love to here your take on life and all its Mysteries.

longliv, You'll see my thread I started explaining what I did. I thought I'd just write one so everyone could say hi and give me something to read. while I'm stuck on this sofa.
It's the way my mother was. She's an strait atheist. Her saying is--Ya die. The worms eat you. The end.-- BUT she allowed my sisters and I to chose on our own. If we asked to go to church she took us and such. Now that were all grown one of my sisters is a buddist(sp?), one is a ex christian borderline scientologist, and the other is still searching.
I thought I would chime in on this chat to count myself in as one of them thar pagans on the board.
Hmmm, how to classify myself? How about Earth-atuned and Goddess aware? Does that make me sound too granola crunchy? I hope not, dang stuff is packed full of fat and sugar. :)
Moreso I approach spiritualism through balance in all aspects of life and relationships. Every relationship be it with my well-adored husband, or any person or creature I meet and interact with. Respect is key. I cherish being able to strive towards acceptance of others, whether they share my old beliefs (call me old fashioned, wayyyy old fashioned *wink*) or not. I don't think it's crazy that I believe we can learn from all faith, ranging from totem spiritualism to orthodox judaism, passing go, collecting $200 and stopping on jainism before selecting a card from the shinto community chest.
It's what makes us fantastic. And dangerous. And human.
verveonica, I got a beautiful moon goddness necklace last week. I love it. Have had a lot of compliments on it. It's about the size of a siver dollar with a circle with a cresent moon and the moon godness inside. I love granola on my yogurt. crunch! I like that earth atuned and goddess aware , add moon gazer and you have me. nighty night.
Good morning everyone!!! Nice to see this thread still going!! (sort of) lol
How is everyones weightloss going?
Mine's really slow I keep losing and gaining the same 5 lbs!!
oh well :( I guess I'll eventually get my Goddess body back.
Red Raven
Hey Red Raven... you already have a Goddess body. Goddesses, like women, come in all shapes and sizes. :)
My weightloss seems to be happening again, mostly because I'm getting my butt on my stationary bike. :)
Hello beanie!
Oh yeah! That exercise thing... I guess I've just "forgotten" about it for the past couple of weeks! lol!!
I love exercising but my biggest problem is getting my diet and smoking under control! I'm an emotional and boredom eater and when I try to stop eating when I'm bored or upset I smoke more. It's a horrible vicious cycle!!
RED
I'm also a boredom eater. I do better when I've got some sort of craft project that I have to use my hands for. Sure I'll have my cup of cheerios, rasins and peanuts nearby, but it lasts so much longer when I'm not constantly munching.
I'm bad about exercising. I came down with mono in March, and my budding exercise habit was shot! I'm just getting back into it now, and it's at least dropped where I'm plateauing a couple of pounds! Instead of 175 - 178, it's now 172-175
Yep...long time pagan here. I'm somewhat eclectic and tend to adopt from different areas what works well for me, but my foundation is Wiccan.
nikki, you said your sister is a borderline scientologist...that worries me. they are a frightening group! help her if you can!! i'm not sure how you manage to sit through church every week, but it sounds like your man loves you no matter what, and that is hard to come by.
Jules --I haven't talked to my sister about these things in a very long while, any of my sisters for that matter. Before March of this year I hadn't seen 1 of my sisters for over 3-4 years I think it was. We live fairly far apart and she's not much of a talker unless its about her lol. She studied religion(Christianity mostly) in collage and psychology. Boy was she fun to get into a religious argument with. Last time We discussed her religion choice was 4 years ago and she was looking into all the Scientology stuff. Don't know where she leans now. But she seems to be doing really good, new bf and stuff.
As for the church thing. >shrugs< I've been sitting through church alot of my life, with my dad being a preacher and all it was pretty much 24/7 when I stayed with him. When I stayed with my mom she took us(or we rode the bus) to sunday school. I believe in the fundamentals honesty, charity, love your brethren type thing. If you truely look at all the religions they're basicly all the same with a few tweeks here and there. Except Scientology those freaks just jumped right out of left field, naked covered in bubblegum for all the since they make to me.
Hey I just found your thread :)
It's funny, I was raised pagan by my parents (hooray for hippies!) and I practice it the way that some people practice christianity...only on holidays:) I wasn't taught alot of the meaning behind the rituals, just the rituals themselves. I understand the basic ideas of course, but I was wondering if anyone could point me to a good book where I could learn the more subtle nuances, or even a place where I can find a local group? I find that I often want to celebrate and commune, but I just don't know the best way to go about it.
Thanks~Al
There are different kinds of Pagans. I would suggest searching on the Internet, in online bookstores, or sites that offer reviews, like this one.
Good morning!
Looks like our thread is going the way of the dodo!
Do any of you live in or near Maryland? The MD renaissance festival is going on every weekend until Oct 22. It's a great place to meet up with pagans in the area.
I'd love to meet up with some of my fellow Pagan cc'ers!!
