just wondering if anyone has experienced this, i have had a gnawing pain inside my bum and hips for weeks , ive been to the doctors and im waiting for a mri scan . i not able to do much activity anymore which is hard to deal with especially as my weight is now  higher. i have osteophrosis but i dont think its that. for the first time ever im realising all those years of overexercising while at such a low weight wasnt doing me any good. im just hoping i havnt done any permanent damage that wont repair. warning for any recoverer on here who hasnt had this illness for long dont let exercise rule your life , you think at the time its ok it doesent matter but it does it catches up on you in years to come and im proof of that h x

you and me both, sis.  i have osteoperosis, too, from all the years of malnutrition.  and i also have constant aches and pains, especially in the lower half of my body.  i assume it's connected to all my years of overexercising too.  my hip broke in 2004, and i have pins there,  so i have a lot of aching when there's moisture in the air or if i lie on my right side or whatever. i hate it. it's like a constant reminder.  i'd rather get a tattoo or something. ha.  anyway, yeah.  i'd guess it's either a. bone loss b. joint damage or c. a comination of both. best to get checked out.  i'm afraid to because i hesitate to confirm all the stupid damage i've done.

i try to use these physical feelings (when i slow down enough to actually tune in) to remind myself of what i must do. <3

how weird you say your hips are hurting because lately my hip hurts on my right side and it makes it even painful to walk! and my back has been killing me lately, even sleeping on a tempedic bed makes it ache. i think it might be due to my slight case of scoliosis, i need to go to a chiropractor... but my bones hurting reminds me that gaining weight is the right thing to do, because i dont want further damage to my body and bones :(

thanks cruumbs your like a mirror image of myself its so frustrating isnt it ? all those years you just dont know the damage your doing . i broke my hip to and my ribs . dont put off getting checked out , remember the body is very clever at repairing itself

crazy your right we need to take heed on this and push forward whats scoliosis by the way ?

hey, girl

yeah the unfortunate thing is that i knew intellectually the damage i was doing, but i just didn't care enough to stop.  i really have never been able to envision a future for myself...depressing i suppose, but i always thought i knew how it was going to end up. even now, i realize how much damage i've done, but i don't feel it like someone on the outside would feel it

during your years of poor health did you find that you really didnt "get sick" very often?  i find it interesting that my brain seemed never to let my body outwardly get sick...like the flu or a cold.  it's like on some level my body knew it didn't have the energy to waste on being "ill."  all the damage was being done internally instead..

just reflecting

keep going...your strength is inspiring

much love

Cruumb I have found that to, its odd I was actually thinking about it yesterday. During my illness Ive found that I really havent had a cold or a flu, I might have a little sniffle now and again but never managed to get a proper cold like I used to. I think I read somewhere once about that, I wish I could remember.

This exact same things were happening to me, and I ended up in the ER. It turns out I have degenerating and bulging discs and messed up vertebrae, and a torn tendon in my back from the effects of my ED! I go to a physical therapist weekly, but it's just a constant reminder that I need to keep getting healthy. Good luck<3

Does it only occur in women? Is an a equivalent "disease" for men?

it cansometimes be such a silent disease , i guess thats why its so hard to change as the ed kind of makes you believe your ok . i know what you mean about colds and flu when i was at my illest my mum caught the flu , everybody was so worried i catch it , i was right by her and i never even caught it.ecwk how did the bulging disc gets better?the mri scan coulnt come any sooner for me. the worst thing is when i first felt in pain my doctor gace me co codamol i took it but i think it kind of masked the , and i think i overdid it. cruumbs you have so much to offer wish you could see it yourself h x

tessa, scoliosis is curvature of the spine, one of my friend's had it so bad that her spine was literally S shaped and had to have a back brace 23 hours a day. i only have it slightly so it sometimes effects my knees, etc. it's strange..

but wow ecwk6, that's scary! i think i will be going to the dr sooner than later :P btw ecwk, you look amazing in your most recent picture!!

Tessa - It doesn't really get better. I have to schedule a follow up soon and find out how everything is doing. I hope your mri turns out okay! <3 let me know how it goes :)

Crazy - Thank you, doll! And you really should get it checked out, so you can catch something if it is there. I would suggest physical therapy too, if your insurance covers it. It was really very helpful.

Years ago when I was in the cardiac unit the head of the ed unit said that many ed suffers don't get common cold/flu but are very prone to big things like cardiac, liver etc. Some weird way the body responds. I hope you all who have problems arising get this checked sooner rather then later. I have a very severe non ed related condition and have been to every specialist and more tests then thought possible. It is very key for many conditions to get treated asap and to get the right dx. On a side note part of your aches may be cause you have no protection as your body is wasting. It takes awhile for that to repair. I hope your mri goes ok. I have had many of those. Osteoporsis from my endocronolgist told me you don't fee like an ache. What can happen is if you fall you can break your bones very easily. Now this is just what I was told. Other conditions like fibromyalgia etc you do have that ache. Please take care

thanks abbie what is fibromyalgia?
