too much pain to sleep... please help
I have recently lost quite a bit of weight and the past couple of nights I have barely slept at all. I noticed tonight that I have gotten really thin and bony and it literally hurts. It hurts a lot to lie down, I tried laying on my back and my side. And I tried sleeping on my stomach and that hurts a lot more. Even right now I am sitting up in bed and I am sore all over :( Has this happened to anyone? What can I do about it so I can get some sleep? Thanks.

I'd strongly suggest going to your doctor and asking their advice. There may be something behind your weight-loss that needs checking out and possibly treating.
Yes, my weight loss was intentional. no bruising, yes I am extremely cold as of lately and my periods have been irregular for awhile now. thank you for the suggestion.
Honestly, I'd visit your doctor and get your thyroid checked. It's the constant feelings of cold that worry me. I hope you aren't undereating in order to lose weight (i.e. that you are eating 1200 net calories, i.e. at least 1200 calories plus the extra that you burn through exercise). Undereating can also lead to feeling cold and fatigued. Irregular periods are also concerning. Not to mention this bone pain.
Normal, healthy weight loss does not involve these three things. Especially if you had normal periods before, didn't tend to feel cold, and slept without pain. See your doctor.
Until you get everything worked out, you could buy a memory foam or what they call a egg crate bed topper. My travel trailor has a thin mattress that is very uncomfortable so I bought one and it really helps. They aren't very expensive and could be found at Costco, Fred Meyer (also known as Frys), Sears, JcPenneys, etc.
I've emailed you privately, but it needs to be said here, too: you are in denial. No normal person is so thin she cannot sleep. All anorexics begin by wanting to "lose weight and be healthier." Just because that's how you started does not mean it's "ok" now that you have so many signs of an eating disorder or other medical condition. You lost 36 lbs in 4 months--abnormal. You keep lowering your goal weight--abnormal.
Get some help and you will feel and sleep better the rest of your life. Do it now before you do irreversible damage to your body, too.
Hey Whitney,
I already made a comment in your journal, but I wanted to share with others that if your bones (or teeth) hurt/body ache it could mean you are not getting enough calcium, so your body is eating away at your bones making them ache.
Try to eat more protein, and more calcium.
Take care.
Whitney, you have been advised in your other threads by the CC moderators and other members that you have the classics signs of an active ED. You were even given a plethora of information and links to websites to which you acknowledged as helpful.
You need to seek professional help immediately. You need to be properly diagnosed by a physician, not a layperson.
Everyone here has been more than generous with their time in answering all of your questions but you need to come to terms that what you are experiencing is something that requires you to be seen by a doctor, not something that can be 'fixed' by an answer on the internet.
Good luck.
aren't you the same person who is eatin like 800 cal a day if so no wonder your havin problems everyone keeps telling you what you should be doing and you think you know better. If your calcium levels and such are so low yor only causing yoiurself injury. If your body is eating the bones you should have osteoporosis in no time. I get irritated with people who know what their doing is wrong but continue in spite of good sound advice. You'll be sorry later for the damage your causing. Try eating you know you should.
I think you should see a doctor. You are not eating enough! sorry thats all i can say
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
