Palin is...is...
resigning as Gov. Linky
She better not run in 2012. I can't handle that again.

I just find the American public [world wide public?] are so freaking swayed by the media and now the once reliable news is becoming a platform for helping sway the public to their personal preferences. One would hope the public is too smart for that but it is OBVIOUS, many are not.
And, you are right...CNN is the most 'neutral' of the cable news networks...not to mention...Anderson Cooper is HOT!
I watch BBC as my news source [I'm a New Zealander in Malaysia] because all the American channels seem to have a spin on them. I've noticed that in all the countries I've visited, you're most likely to be able to watch BBC World News and least likely to get Fox news. Probably says something about the palatability of the content...
Agreed! Here in Italy you have to have satellite to get Fox News. On normal cable you get the BBC and CNN. When I am at my in-laws' house I sometimes watch the crazytrain that is Faux News (they have satellite), but it's just to see what kind of crazy they are selling on that particular day. I usually just get my American news from the internet.

I dislike Fox News for so many reason... Too many to list. ;)
indeed! in fact, i feel like even referring to it as a news source is a far stretch.. lol
What's sad is...news is suppose to be neutral...and none of it is...as liberal as I am...[and I AM!]..I don't appreciate the NY TIMES or MSNBC -Fox News' anti-christ -..etc...just as much as I don't appreciate FOX NEWS. How in the HELL can they call themselves journalists? News? They are soooooo effing swayed to one side...it's effing ridiculous. Left, Right..no prob...blog about it...be a commentary...[which is why people like Sean Hannity [the loser that he is] gets a break from me..bc he does not call himself a journalist/news man...he makes commentary, much like a blogster person. BUT...when watching FOX NEWS or their polar opposite, MSNBC...during their news sections...they are still SO biased....it makes me sick. [Even when I agree with much that is said on stations such as MSNBC...] Media must think the American public are all STUPID...then again..with the economy sucking and the sales of tabloid magazines still making a profit...may be they are right!
yep you're right. MSNBC is definitely the polar opposite of FOX news - but i'm not gonna lie I definitely tune in to MSNBC pretty frequently during the week - i like getting the news from people closer to my political persuasion
CNN i think is fairly neutral. as far as the major news networks go. Plus on weekend mornings they have a certain Mr. TJ Holmes as a morning news anchor and i happen to have an uber crush on him

true true, i can't deny that fact. MSNBC and fox news inparticularly are two that are just kind of throwing out propoganda... but MSNBC's propoganda i like so much better and is so much more in the realm of truth!! (lol
)
meh - the american public has proven time and again that our general public is not nearly as smart as a fore-fathers had hoped and expected. shoot, nixon elected twice, the shrub "elected" twice... yea intelligence isn't an adjective i would choose to describe the majority of the country i call home, unfortunately ![]()
and oh yes, a.cooper is way hot as well - but also way gay
lol..good thing t.j. is more my style ![]()
ha - since i have a chance with either, right?

too true re: american news stations. and i think BBC will indeed give you more of the facts than mere propoganda. we don't get it on the television package i have down in here FL (i'm sure if i subscribed to some super channel package with 300 + stations i'd get it..) but i should peruse it on the internet more often..

haha - that's perfectly described.
I know, right? I mean, when you think about it, they have Glenn Beck on at 5:00, then at 8:00 (and again at 11:00) they have Bill O'Reilley. Then at 9:00 they have Sean Hannity. And THESE are the shows that draw in the biggest audiences. Not Shepard Smith, who I can on occasion take seriously. These people listen to what these 3 crazytrain conductors tell them and take it as fact. No critical thinking involved...it's just plain scary.
A tell tale sign that Palin's running in 2012?
It sure would be convenient to have that White House Department of Law at her disposal.
Comedy writers around the country are buying champagne right now...
Why can't people watch a mix of news? I check out CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera English and occasionally MSNBC... but not often since I don't like their website. And Faux News is a joke...

agreed. a mixture is best. aside from of course, as you pointed out, faux news. lol.

I think it's funny that you'll watch the far left (MSNBC) but not the far right (Fox)....you don't have anything to balance each other out.
If there's a particular story I'm trying to get a handle on I go to BBC for neutral, MSNBC for left, and Fox for right. That way I can get the viewpoint from both sides and try to make my own decision....I don't do it for all news though...too much work :)

This is kind of how I feel. Sometimes I'll go to Fox. Sometimes I'll go to MSNBC. And sometimes I laugh at both of them. You can't criticize one without criticize the other. I've just discovered the joys of BBC and have started watching it for a more neutral view as well.

Yeah....cuz that's the way we grow as a society. Let's not listen to anyone who might have an alternate viewpoint. ![]()

okay. tell me one way listening to anything the right wing conservative zealots have to say will help this society grow positively?

I'm not saying you have to agree with it. But it's always good to get to know the other side. How they think. Why they think it. How others come up with their viewpoints. Otherwise we all end up living in our own little bubble, stuck in our own beliefs, and never willing to learn how to compromise. Not all conservatives are a bunch of crazy religious zealots. And not all liberals are a bunch of hippie tree huggers.
You aren't making a very good case for why they should listen to you either. How do we expect anything to change, then?

logically i can understand, acknowledge, and see your points. however truly i lean more toward the hippie tree huggers - so i can't help but get extremely angry if i happen to catch something on faux news (love that!) , or happen to be listening to any sort of right-wing propagandist.
call it a character flaw, whatever. it is what it is - but i'd much rather be of the hippie tree hugger variety than of the crazy religious zealot variety ![]()

Exactly. A person that is willing to change/compromise is more likely to see results, imho. Some people only want results they aren't willing to change/compromise.
I'm Catholic. :) I'm Republican too. At the exact same time I'm pro-choice! It wouldn't be my choice. :( However, some of us Republican's aren't bias due to our religion. We still support an individual right to make a choice. Some of us didn't vote for Bush the second time around either,Lol. Or: Vote Republican this last election for that matter. Party affiliation has become increasingly unimportant, imho. There are just so many shades of gray within every party and inbetween. How many shades of gray can you see?

so...you would rather stick with stereotypes and intollerances than to educate yourself with other ideologies and to try to come to some sort understanding of how others tick(not necessary to agree with them though)? odd.
Fair enough, musical. As I get older, though. I prefer to try to look past the stereotypes and pay attention to what both sides are spewing. It's how I learn. To each their own, I guess.
I think this is why Obama has been so successful. He does listen to both sides. He seems to be trying his best to compromise. Even if it means things move a bit slower than he would like. There are people on both sides of the spectrum who are still willing to do this. I don't, however, think that Palin is one of them.

too true, peaches. i have noticed this in him, and i do admire and respect him for being able to do this. he needs to be able to do this in order to lead an entirely diverse country.
"so...you would rather stick with stereotypes and intollerances than to educate yourself with other ideologies and to try to come to some sort understanding of how others tick(not necessary to agree with them though)? odd."
i do educate myself. which is how i've come to the conclusion that i adamantly disagree with the opposing persuasion. how is that odd?
