Hi.
I am going to Panera Bread tomorrow. How big are their sandwitches? Like is the "half portion" about the same as subways 6 inch?
Thanks
UD
it really depends on the sandwich. the kind i remember getting reminded me of a half sandwich i would make at home, with "normal" sized bread rather than 6inch bread at subway.
they have menu/nutrition stats on the website if that helps: http://www.panerabread.com/menu/
enjoy!
I LOVE their sandwiches, but they are LOADED with calories. One sandwich can have upwards of 700 calories and 30+ fat grams! Their food sounds healthy, but can be as bad as McDonald's! Be careful! One sammich can undo an entire day's worth of work!
Yeah I looked at it. For half portions it starts at 240 calories, (for turkey ones), and some are 400-500 calories! I was just wondering how big they were. Although it does include mayo, so I guess it adds around 100 calories per half portion?

the half portion is really filling. i feel like when i get a full sandwich, i end up eating the whole thing even though 1/2 does more than just fill me up, so i go for the 'you pick 2 option' and get 1/2 the vegetable soup and 1/2 the mediterranean sandwich.
Since Panera is known for their bread, that's what you are going to get - the best bread and lots of it. I always get a salad with the dressing on the side and a piece of whole grain bread. It's good that you are planning ahead.
Here's their Nutritional Guide which I found by using Yahoo Search.
their sandwiches are actually a pretty good size, although slightly smaller than subway. The bread is often well worth it imo... just be careful when figuring out the calories. The sandwich values listed on the site are only for certain types of breads; if you switch breads it may add more. And don't get a whole sandwich with dressing and cheese because you may end up having downed 800 calories!!
My favorite things to get is the you pick two:
1/2 turkey sandwich or 1/2 mediterean veggie sandwich
with
vegetable soup or black bean soup
Well went to Panera today. Ordered their half portion turkey on whole grain bread (no mayo and no cheese) and 8 oz bean soup. Wasn't all too impressed. Bread that sandwitch was made with was average, and I didn't particularly like the one they included with the soup. Plus I was still hungry after eating there. I don't think I'll be comming back. Was worth a try, just for the price it's not worth it.
