panic bingeing please help

Quote  |  Reply

Hi,

I haven't posted in a long time. I recently had my thyroid medication changed and my weight dropped from finally gaining up to 100lbs back down to 90lbs.  (I'm 5'1")

I'm a wreck though cuz I was doing so well. I finally bumped up 3 pounds and last night and tonight I totally binged and feel so bloated and uncomfortable.

It was uncontrolable like my body craved carbs and vegetables and peanutbutter and beans. most insane combos ever.  I was so sick all day because of the binge from last night that I coudln't eat a damn thing till ike 11pm tonight. and when I did I just piled on a days worth of calories all at once.

what the heck is wrong with me, it's like my body went into famine mode suddenly.

the weird thing about yesterday is that i had balanced meals all day proper caloric intake in relation to my exercise regiemen. I'm so stressed that this happened again tonight and am angry that i was unable to eat balanced meals earlier in the day to avoid this uncomfortable bloated feeling I have now.

Any suggestions as to how to be able to eat earlier tomorrow? I dont want this to happen again tomorrow night because i'm too full and bloated all day tomorrow.

I mean at least I am getting in my calories, I just woudl prefer it to be more "normal" and not a starvation panic attack to gain like it was tonight.

From experience, you need to bite the bullet and eat through out tomorrow even if you are not hungry.

If you are not hungry, and do not eat then your hunger WILL catch up to you but by then it will be TOO LATE and you are VERY LIKELY to binge again!

To end the binge cycle, you have to eat tomorrow even though you will probably still feel stuffed.

By the end of the day you body needs a certain amount of calories; and you can either take in these calories evenly through out the day, OR, you can wait and take in ALL of your calories AT ONCE and then feel bad about it and starve the next day and then binge AGAIN when your hunger catches up to you…..

I recommend that you end this cycle now!

What I will feel worse; forcing yourself to eat through out the day tomorrow even when you are not hungry OR stuffing all the food in in one sitting and feeling crap afterwards, only to continue the same pattern the next day.

Just think about how you will feel after binging on all that food! Wouldn’t it feel less crap to just make yourself eat a normal amount of food earlier on? Eating a bowel of cereal when you are not “ hungry” sounds less painful then binging and feeling like crap afterwards!

I think it is because you might be lacking nutrients in the past and now your body snapped. You can space out your caloric intake and eat small meals. This will prevent overeating and binging.

Can I ask how many calories you are taking in to gain? 2500? 3000? I can give you some breakdowns that will space your calories over the day.

Often, we crave what we are nutritionally deficient in. Try to work the foods you binged on into your day-to-day eating, and pay attention to your daily intake of different vitamins (you can find this on CC's analysis page).

I take in about 2500 per day, even that is hard at times because i have a lot of GI problems, but I manage to get to that amount daily. days I do exercise more I bump up 300 more.

Even if you're not hungry tomorrow drink soup and smoothies throughout the day.  That should be relatively easy on your full stomach but still get you some needed calories.
