I'm pretty new to CC but, I was wondering on average- about how may lb.s do you have to lose before you drop a pant size?

I'm still in my original starting weight pants but, they are getting comfy but, aren't falling just yet. Wink I know it's different for everyone but, just wondered.

Totally varies.  My fiance lost five pounds and went down a pant size.  I had to lose thirty pounds to go down a pant size.
last spring i lost 15 lbs and went from a 14 to a (snug) 12.  gained 5 back, then right after thanksgiving i joined cc.  i've lost 9 lbs and am still a 12, they're just fitting better.  maybe that gives you an idea.  depends on what part of your body you're losing more fat from.  my face gets thinner first, then my chest and torso, and THEN my hiney and thighs.  so i keep trying on my current "goal" pants, and even though i'm losing, they are still too small.
I lost 20 lbs and went from a 6p to a 0p - that's 4 sizes, or a new size every 5 lbs. BUT, I tend to lose first in my hips, thighs and butt. Chest and torso and gut is the very last thing to go.

I am now the hipless wonder, LOL.
I lost 30lbs and went from a 22 to a 14. Guess thats 4 sizes.

for me--someone who's 5'3:

150lbs=size 10

142lbs=size 8

136lbs=size 6 ----all four sizes come from express pants.

130lbs=size 4

I lost 18 pounds and haven't even gone down a dress size yet... my clothes were getting pretty tight when I started and now they're comfortably loose, but I'm still firmly a 2x judging by all the clothes I tried on the other day.

BTW I'm 5'6" and I carry a lot of weight on my stomach, but I still have a waist...

I'm 5'9" and 200 lbs. It takes alot for me to drop a size. Right now I'm a 16. From past experiences I probably won't be able to really fit into 14's until about 185 and then at the very least get down to 170 before a size 12. I have never been able to fit into a 10, even at 150lbs.

So we'll see how it goes this round.
ive lost 30 pounds over the last 5 months and went from size 14 to size 11 and still dieting. Everyone is different. Hips might be an issue since they will not get smaller.
I lost 60 lbs but I only went from a 16-18 to 10-12.
this definitely varies from person to person. I have lost over 70 lbs and have gone down from a 2x - 3x (depending on the style/cut of what I was wearing) to between 12 - 14 now. The 14s are getting big and the 12s are snug (but wearable). My stomach area also still remains the largest part.

I'm 5'3', and I went from 205 and 18/20 to 163 a loose 14, but a bit too tight for a 12.  But, I carry weight "up front" in my chest and tummy.  My thighs are fine for a 12 right now, but it's too snug for my belly.  I think I'll be into a 12 at about 155.  From past experience, my goal weight of 125 should be about an 8.

I'm usually about 10# per pants size, but I haven't weighed myself in almost 2 years so I don't know if that still holds true for this time around.  I think it might be less than that as I get smaller.  I just went down a size into a size 8 but i'm having a hard time believing I have lost 10# between size 10 and size 8.
I'm 5'8", close to 180 pounds. I wear a 14 in Gap jeans just right - not too tight, not too baggy.
When I am about 150, I wear a 10 in Gap jeans just right.

It's not just weight, you know - it's muscle mass, waist to hip ratio, etc. So like, you could gain a bunch of muscle, lose fat, but not lose any weight and still be able to go down a pants size.

Good luck and have fun shopping for some smaller jeans pretty soon :)
For me, each drop in BMI point equated to 1 dress size.
I lost 95 lbs and went down from a size 20 to a size 4.

so thats....a little more than 10 lbs a size? for me at least. everybody's different.
Obviously everyone's different, but I've seen a lot of people on previous threads saying it was about 10 pounds per size for them, and that's what it is for me as well.  At 162, I was in tight 12s.  It was around 150 or a little above that I went down to 10s, and now I'm 145 or so and can wear Gap 8s and can put on but not look good in other (smaller) size 8s.
i think lost a pant size from 15-20 pounds but it's really freaking difficult to tell for sure the way pants sizes are these days.  i think it's better to measure.

I know what you mean about how different brands run differently. I've got a pair of 19-18 (kinda weird sizing) they fall off right now but, my  size 18 Levi 515 are just comfy. I've been in a 16 this past year but, I want to below a 16 badly!

(edit spelling)

For me so far it's been about 15 pounds per size, but that's all in plus sizes. When you're bigger, it takes many more pounds to lose sizes, while tiny people can lose 5 lbs and a whole size.  (Also, you have to be consistent with the brand for this to make sense at all.)

I'm 5'7''. So far, my sizes/wts were approximately:

280:  size 24
265: size 22
250: size 20
235: size 18

This is a very useful thread about sizes - even within similar heights, there's a huge difference.

kajikit- that is where i carry a lot too, that and bust area.  I am new here and following this thread is interesting.  Right now I weigh 259 (at 5ft 1 1.5 in) and I can fit a 22 pant comfortably, and 1x or 2x shirt depending on the brand(sz 44dd).  My goal is to get down to 140-150, still over my ideal weight, but much healthier than the weight i am now.  I was only 140 ten yrs ago when I found out I was pregnant with my oldest, and it's been all down hill from there.  At one point(about 4 yrs ago) I was 307 lbs and could barely find anything to fit me.  It has been slow work, but I am committed to making it work.

On a related subject:  does anyone else here notice that once you get to a certain point, you cant seem to get past it?  The lowest I have been able to get was 213lbs, and I kept that for about a yr, then when I started working(fast food) it went right back up.
