Paranoid about doctors visit..
So, everyone needs to get a check up...down there...by the doctor. Everyone. I know that, but what I didn't know, is that you get a Pap test done if you want The Pill. Greeeeeeeeeeeeeattt. I don't know how I could go through with it, I would be so nervous, it would be soo... akward O_o.
I don't know what to do, it's a win/lose situation no matter what I chose, I know I'm not the doctors first and I wont be the last to get checked there, but still, O_O it just makes me uncomfortable...

...um.... Aside from all of the kind and encouraging comments all of you have said, all that occurs to me is:
It's a lot better than having a surgeon remove cancer from your cervix.
It really isn't that bad, and ESPECIALLY if you started having sex before 18-19 you MUST have this test once a year. I actually find it a lot less embarassing than the breast exam since the breast exam actually feels like something I'd let my date do to me. The pap smear is just downright uncomfortable.
But not as uncomfortable as cancer.
Honestly.

The sweetest most careful and intelligent women I know have had to have surgery for this, even with annual check ups. Go. now.
What may help, take a girfriend with you to the walk-in clinic. Sometimes having company, someone to chat with and hold your hand before & after, can be all the support you need.
I had my last few years with a nurse-midwife, who was not only easier and faster, but she knew what it felt like-- as well as what she was doing.
What we learned the hard way in the 60's and 70's is that you aren't just going to bed with your bf, you are having sex with everyone he's ever had relations with (including oral sex). What that means is that your risk of disease is higher than you think.
Actually I had a friend tell me the exact same thing about the breast exam being the one she doesn't like.
--I rather not tell my dad, he won't get the grandkid talk either seeing how we do use protection. It's not that I really care about what my dad thinks more than the talk about how I'm going to go to hell for having sex before marriage.
Yea, surgery would be a whole lot worse.
I doubt with how careful my boyfriend and I are, and seeing how he's in college in alberta for 200/365 days in the year, I doubt I'm going to be pregnant within the next 3-4 years.
At least you aren't a virgin and having it done. I was 15, a virgin, with ovary issues and had to have it done. It was extremely traumatizing and extremely painful, I don't care how small that POS is, it hurt, like real bad. To this day I'm scared of it, and it still hurts (PCOS and Endometreosis makes this experience painful...including sex...sigh).
I'm quite jealous of the people who say they can't even feel it. D: I know I shouldn't, but I avoid my own because it triggers awful memories (sexual issues from the past).
But it's alot deeper than memories... it gets too personal to post on here. But I managed to have one done last year and I couldn't walk for days... >_>;
Sad part... even though she's down there, I'm more embarassed when she's feeling my boobs. :P
=D I got it done, it wasn't bad at all.
yeh I've had it done twice, once with a female doctor (which was actually quite comfortable, if a bit weird) and once with a male doctor (which actually was painful because I wasn't expecting to get it done at that particular appointment, and he was of the quicker-is-better mentality)
i prefer female docs, but i'm glad ur experience was alright :)
