The part of the fitness program that you just suck it up and do

For me it's abs workouts. I do abs 3 times a week for about 10-15 minutes and drag my feet to start each time. I'm doing about 100 bicycle crunches, 30 crunches, 30 bent knee leg lifts, 30 oblique V ups each side, a plank for as long as I can last and then some alternating superman raises. When I am done I am happy I did and am even happier that I won't need to do them again for another 2 or 3 days.

I also sit in the sun for about 1.5 hours on Saturday to get a little color and natural vitamin D. I hate this part of my regimen (the vanity portion), but do like the effect. Even though I sweat, this is not part of the workout but may trigger thoughts.

Any part of your workout that you do because you've figured out it has a good effect, but you have to talk yourself into it each time?

i go jogging 3 times a week and the wednesday one i ALWAYS have to talk myself into going to! let me explain.. tuesday night is student night at the pub. have you ever tried jogging after a night out drinking? it just does not happen!! haha however, as soon as i finish i feel so much better for doing it.

For me it is the crunches as well! I seriously have to force myself to do them...lately i just put on my favourite program and do it while watching it..it has helped a little though i do hav to admit sitting there doing nothing would be much more fun!!!Sealed

I have a perverse love of abs that teeters on the brink of overtraining, but reading about your ab workout reminded me of an article about ab training for those who find it unpalatable. You might find you can get the same results with a fraction of the time you're putting in.

It's really funny that you wrote that because abs are always difficult for me to get through as well.  I carry my excess fat almost solely in my abdomen, but since I know you can't "spot burn" fat just by working those muscles, there's not much motivation there for me to do it!

For me, it's strength training in general.  Although I don't hate it, I would much rather be outside on my bike or going for a run.  Still, I know that it's something I need to do, and I've been doing it seriously for about a year and I like the results I'm seeing.  So now, I just check the weather forecast for the week, and schedule two or three days of strength training for the rainy or unbearably hot days.  :)

Squats. Definitely. Hate Hate Hate Squats. Even after I'm done, I still hate them. Only reason I'm happy is because they are over with, and it'll be another week before I have to do them again.

Your regimen seems a little excessive to me. Are you seeing results? For abs, I do hanging leg/hip raises. 3 sets of 8, once a week. Holy cow they kill, but they work.

Sprints, jogging, running, cardio in general. I like walking, but I hate anything that's intense enough to count as "cardio".

This is very strange coming from the man who is slightly addicted to Tabata intervals...

Thanks for the link. I don't have all the needed equipment, so I'll think about it when/if my apartment complex upgrades (High Pulley Cable Crunch on Swiss Ball!) or if I bite the bullet and join a gym. It also seems to up it to 9-20 exercises including resting periods. I am doing circuit weight training mostly, so not a good fit until I reform the underlying style of weight training.

It was actually experimentation that got me down to about 10 or so minutes, 7 exercises working all major groups and done.

I go to an abs class 2x a week and I love it!

On the other hand, I despise lunges but I have to do them as part of my circuit training.

The first ten minutes of ANY run.  Ugh.  Blech.  Euuwww...My body always feels like it's been filled with day-old, sludgy oatmeal until the warm-up is over.

I too, have a hatred of abs and should be doing them 3 -4 times a week to strengthen my core but...well...I never get around to it.  Every time I lie down on the floor around here I end up getting jumped on by a two year old.  Perhaps I should start doing them beside the car?  I mean, that's where I have to do my stretches -- it's the one place the toddler can't get at me!

But Melkor, Tabata intervals ARE addictive!  Who could pass up an opportunity to almost puke every 20 seconds???

Definitely "Cardio" on the treadmill. Just thinking about it gives me the I am lazy feeling & dont want to do it. But after I get my hour done I feel a lot better, that I did it.

Any workout that I have to do completely solo....I hate working out by myself, so if it's gonna be a solo run, I try to forget about it...But once I'm started, I get into "The Zone" and it's not an issue......

Push-ups. They're just so hard and not fun AT ALL!.

I pretty much hate cardio now.  Repetitive and boring.  I'll probably cut down significantly once school starts.  Yes, that's a...great reason. *coughexcusecough

The tanning thing concerns me.  I grew up before sunscreen, and we simply fried if we spent too long in the sun.  I have friends of various ages who are fighting melanoma.  Before they were engaged in this battle, they sported magnificent tans (for decades.)  My dermatologist makes sure all of her patients know that the first 20 years she was in practice she averaged one case of melanoma per year.  In the last 10 years she saw over 900 cases.  Be careful with the tanning/vitamin D thing!

I'm actually a cardio addict. It makes me feel really alive.

I HATE doing weight training on my own. If I'm at a gym or doing a tape, I'm fine. I need to have a structure in order to do it, and if I'm left to my own devices...I won't do it/it'll take forever to finish/I can never keep myself in the right mindset.

I also don't like jump training/pylometrics much. I just never get any better at it.
