How did you and your partner meet?
Years back I lived in a bad rundown neighborhood. Looking back, I cant believe I would walked there for exercise like a victim waiting to happen. At the time, I was convinced speed walking (because guys cant run?) and staring down to avoid contact (because being aware of my surroundings was too safe?) would keep me from trouble. Nothing bad did happen - just sometimesl pigs yelling disgusting things which Id safely ignored. Occasionally I'd yell back, "Go home to your kids," as if that might smack some decency into them.
On one such walk through an apartment parking lot with eyes glued on pavement and car tires I happened upon a guy pulling himself out from beneath a car he was working on. He just shyly smiled at me and I was amused to realize I was going to stop and start a converstaion. That was not something I did so I was practically laughing at myself. I felt shameless but I suddenly developed an interest in cars. Miss "Shut up, go away, leave me alone" took a break "Im stupid, whats that for?" took over.
Turns out Mr shy actually just didnt speak a whole lot of English. So the conversation was limited and bumpy but we managed to arrange a date. We were together about 7 years and have a daughter together.
When I think girls who feel they cant meet a guy, I think of what can happen when your not looking.
So we have been calling, texting, and e-mailing and spending time together. We hesitate to call it dating because we are both divorced and we want to take it really slow. He is worse than me about this because he has more than one ex wife and his divorces were ugly. The more I find out the more hesitant I am but I still enjoy our time together. And I wasn't really looking for anyone when I came across him so if it doesn't work out then I guess it doesn't.
I wanna hear some people over 35 say how they met their sig oth
i'm such a romantic.
My mom and I kept staring at him cause he had some strange facial hair thingy going on.
Later on in the night he asked me to dance a couple times and the rest is history.
Ps... the facial hair "thingy" is long gone!
I met my hubby 26 years ago by a swimming pool in Arizona. I was minding my own business floating around on a floatie when this guy comes through the pool area checks his mail and hauls butt outta there real quick. Turns out this was my husbands best friend, and he went back and told my hubby he needed to come "check out the girl by the pool". He was looking for a job at the time and was stuffing endless resumes into envelopes. He just told his friend to shut up and help him. :-) We eventually did meet later when he hit a tennis ball over the fence and hit me with it.
We spent allot of hours at that pool! :-)
The rest of the evening I spent talking with him getting to know him and well the rest is history15 yrs later we are married with 2 kids=)
I met my now fiance at a gas station, I was pumping gas and he was buying something.
He said: "Hey baby can I get your phone #?"
I said: "Sure, you're cute"
He said: "Thanks" and drove away
LOL Ok, it didn't happen EXACTLY like that but pretty much yea.
I'm such a romantic
So we're at the club, she and I separate from the rest of the group cause we wanted to dance with other guys outside our group. At the end of the night, I'm holding her drink (and just moving to the music in place) while she dances. This guy goes by me once, just looks and says nothing. I go sit at an empty chair by the bar, here comes this guy again passes by me, after a few steps turns around and asks me to dance.
I was hesitate at first since the song had been playing for while and knowing my luck it would end as we started dancing... THAT's exactly what happen, lol. So, he just makes me do the final spin/turn as most latin dancers do at the end of song. We started talking while the bouncers are trying to kick everyone out to close. Asks for my number (as my best friend is pulling/jerking me so we can leave-- we still laugh at that). I never give my number to guys i meet at the club, why i did it this time is unknown.
He calls me 30 mins later, making me listen to a Daddy Yankee (which he "dedicated" to me). I had to go out of state at the end of the wknd, but we still called and talked for hours (although there was a 3hr difference we didn't care). Few weeks later i come back home, went out on dates with him twice a week minimum. In less than a month, we were bf/gf (which was also something i've never done, usually it takes months of a knowing a guy before it get to that point).
(I find out at the end, his best friend partically dragged him out of the apartment to go. They were also about to leave since one of his friend had jeans and JEAN are NOT allowed.)
Even with 1.5 hr drive and nine months later, we're still together and I still getting butterflies when i see him.
I know this was a little long winded, tried to take out as much details.
So me and this guy were seeing eachother, and even though the first date was rocky I thought I'd keep giving it a try, mean while, one of my guy friend's keeps telling me I should go on a date with his buddy (named Alex). After telling my friend no FIVE nights in a row I gave in and decided to go on a date with his friend.
after one date with Alex I broke it off with the first guy and have been with my boyfriend for 2 years now =) (well...it'll be 2 years in a month)
My ex boyfriend had cheated on me, and I was devastated and spent a lot of time in my room at college. My friend decided it was time for me to have a fun night out and dragged me (kicking and screaming) to this place called "Club Hell" (HAHA, go figure huh?)...Anyway, she said we were going to circle the club and look for some people that looked nice to talk to and chat with them for the night. Well she spotted this guy (my bf) and said he was gorgeous and she was going to buy him a drink...I was mortified and said, "no thanks, I can't do that, I'll just stay right here", but I followed her over anyway...She had a change of heart, turned and bought the boy NEXT to him (his friend) a drink instead...which left me standing there in front of this random guy. We started talking (well, yelling since it was so loud in there) and at the end of the night he said we should return next week since it would be his birthday.
We decided to go back on a last minute whim and he remembered my name right off the bat and seemed really happy to see me. At the end of the night he asked for my number, though he had no cell phone or paper or anything to write with, so I said no, thinking he was just being nice. My friend arranged with his friend to meet up with us a few days later at the restaurant we worked at and we had dinner and went bowling...and I gave him my number...He told me that he was falling in love with me a few weeks later, and we've been together pretty much every day since.
:) It's almost been 4 years now and I still love this boy more than anything in the world!
2 years later.......
He agreed to meet me at a Taco Bell between my house and his college (where I'd taken classes a few years earlier), and I figured I'd never see him again 'cause he was kind of awkward.
But I added him to my AIM messenger list anyway, and we talked, and I ordered him a birthday present out of Japan, and forced him to go to hockey games with me. Where he eventually asked me to be his girlfriend.
I thought he was especially sweet for driving half an hour every day to see me, and after we started "dating" he started sleeping over, and just never went back home. =)
And here we are, a year later, engaged to be married on what will be the second year anniversary of that day he asked me to be his girlfriend.
SCREW YOU eHARMONY! I got mine for free.
freshman year of college my friend wakes up on friday morning and says she had the strangest dream. she was married to some guy and their plane crashed and keanu reeves rescued her. we asked who the guy was and she said she had no idea but that she thought she recognized him from somewhere.
friday night- we all walk into a party and she goes "omg he's here, the guy from my dream is here" in short, i told her not to say anything because, well, that's creepy. after a few drinks she didn't listen and as we were waiting in line for the bathroom from behind me i hear "you're not gonna believe this but..." yeah, he was creeped out. and i turn around and it turns out it's this guy i had added on Facebook over the summer because we had the same major and i thought he was really cute. since we had never met in person by the 2nd month of college he deleted me. so i start trying to salvage the conversation and she goes "shut up, you don't know him" and i said "yes i do, his name is ___" and he looked really creeped out then and i said i think we used to be facebook friends and he was like "OHHH you're amanda ___" and he remembered my last name so i didn't feel weird anymore.
we talked and danced the rest of the night and have been for a year and a half. we're living together and plan to get married in a couple of years.
all because of someone else's dream, and i'm not even friends with her anymore!
