I recently started doing spinning/bicycle classes at the gym. I asked the instructor what body parts it targeted and he strugged and said something about cardio. I am confused. I want to know if there are specific areas it mainly targets as I have goals I would want to see happen to certain body parts.
Bicycling shapes the legs as it builds the muscles of the upper thighs (quadriceps), the back of the thighs (hamstrings), the butt (gluteus maximus), and the calf muscles. Correct body position on the bike strengthens the abdominal and back muscles that make up the core. Cycling works the heart and lungs to boost general fitness, and since it burns calories, it can reduce body fat allover as long as calorie intake is not excessive.
