Pasta Penne Rigate Question
So the serving size is 3/4 cup dry is 210 calories. I know pasta exspands a bit when it is cooked so would 3/4 cup dry be 1 cup cooked? Please give me an answer (:
Pasta almost doubles in weight when you cook it (75g dry becomes 150g cooked) so I'm guessing that it doubles in volume too (3/4 cup becomes 1 and 1/2 cups).

Wow you sure? Double? That dosent reall sound right because it says on calorie count that 1 cup cooked pasta is about 210-230(Depending on the type.) So if 3/4 cup dry equals 210 calories that can't be right.........can it?
Hey turns out I am right, well atleast according to this website I http://www.thenibble.com/reviews/main/pastas/ cooking-tips.asp
It says "3/4 cup penne = 1 cup cooked pasta" Thats what I need to know ![]()

Ahaha my measuring cup is my LIFE. Seriously ahaha.
I use a diet scale to measure the dry pasta.
I measure pasta (any type) all the time, and it all seems to double exactly in weight: 100g dry pasta becomes 200g cooked pasta, So by that logic, 3/4 cup dry pasta would equal 1 1/2 cup cooked pasta. But i guess you gotta take into consideration the softness of the pasta and the holes that the penne was in the 3/4 cup, and whether you squish it down into a cup... if you dont compress it, i would say that 3/4 cup dry would equal 1 1/2 cups cooked pasta. Hope this helps!
