How do you tell how much 2oz of sphagetti style pasta are?

if you don't have a scale, the best you can do is judge by eye - how big is the box, how many serving sizes are in it, etc. A 16 oz box will usually have 8 - 2 oz servings, so divide the dry pasta as best you can and jsut add a couple extra calories at the end of the day.
How about if your like me have a large family & cook for 6 I don't have the space to boil 2 pots anyone know the measurement once you boil 2 ounces ? I've always just guessed or chosen not to eat the pasta
If you estimate how many portions are in the package, you should be able to figure out the cooked portion as well. Maybe you could try cooking just the one portion and measuring that for your self, so you can then know how much of the pasta you cooked for the family is one portion for you.

Well, I found out by experimenting. I took the time to weigh out 2 oz of pasta, then cooked it normally, and then I was able to eyeball a portion. Since we always eat off the same plates, I also made a point of looking at how much room it took up on the plate. I didn't bother with measuring cups for volume - it's not like I can take those with me to a restaurant.

My husband looks at me funny, but I'll substitued thinly sliced just cooked zucchini instead of pasta because I know I can't control my pasta eating when it's available. More so than chocolate, pasta is my kryponte.

Measure out 2 oz of dry pasta, cook it, then cook it and measure it with a measuring cup. then you can use the measuring cup in the future to know what a serving of pasta looks like.
Generally speaking, shaped pasta is about a cup, cooked. Spaghetti is harder to judge . . . about 2/3-3/4 of a cup cooked.

I don't weigh/measure it prior to cooking... since I cook an entire pound at a time... easier to measure one cup of cooked pasta. An added bonus to this method is that you then see what one cup of pasta looks like in your bowl. It helps to "train" your eye.
Well I read that with raw sphagetti it is about the diameter of a quarter so that's what I cooked last night but it seemed like a LOT of pasta.
I had this same problem -- especially with whole grain pastas... the box is only 12 oz... I made the entire box, weighed the entire amount, divided by 6 servings and found that for the most part -- 2 oz dry is equal to 4.5 oz cooked. I've done it a few times and have gotten the same result whether it's "regular" or Barilla Plus or some other whole grain pasta. I don't like that whole "cup" measurement because pasta comes in too many shapes and sizes.
