I quit smoking on May 25, 2009 by using the patch (Sams Club brand) I wore a whole 21mg. one for 3 days, then I cut it in half and wore that for 3 days then I cut it in quarters for 3 more days and I lost it somewhere dancing and so I thought I will just go without a patch and that is how I did it without getting grumpy. You don't have to buy the next step, just cut the 21mg. in half and quarters. Save on some
. Still get cravings, about 2 a day, but I just drink some water and I am good. I also got some sugar free lolly pops at Walgreens and sucked on them when I had a craving. Now I am back to normal...ha ha what ever that is.![]()
Splendid. Your physical dependency on nicotine fades away after a week or two, but be prepared for the pitfalls. Emotionally you have to break with so many associations. It may help to write them down. Each time you feel the urge you have to recall your motivation that made you decide to stop smoking. Did you decide to quit smoking forever?
Mel (I stopped smoking, cold turkey, on November 3, 2003 at an age of 59.)
Oh yes I am so happy I am not dependent on a cigarette. How wonderful it is to smell my shampoo on my hair rather then stinky smoke. And not coughing up a lung in the morning is a huge plus.
Plus the cost the Government has put on the cost of a pack of cigs. I refuse to pay anymore money to the Government. Call me rebellious but if it works, good for me.
Plus I must add, I was a Meth addict for years and have been clean for 4.5 years and quiting cigs was harder... Imagine that?
Hi Mel,
My name is Angie. I just quit smoking cold turkey yesterday!! I know it will be hard at first,I've quit before but this time I WILL QUIT FOR GOOD!! I was also taking some steroids for 6 days and I am having alot of side effects from it,but nothing serious. I am taking a pill to help me quit(It worked once before when I was READY to quit!) Well if there is any advice you want to give and can give, please feel free. Thanks Angie
You may not be in the position to join a group now, but get your supporters around you. Tell them you did quit for good and why. I guess you've heard of Allen Carr and his "Little book Easy way to quit smoking". You may want to read that too.
I have a lot more but no time to dig and copy here, at the moment. Be back on this later on.
Mel
P.S. Perhaps I could start another topic, "Cold Turkey" perhaps?
Went to the Casino last night for the first time in years, Oh my did I stink from everyone elses cigarettes. I had to shower before I went to bed. Note to self and all other trying to quit...Stay away from casinos.
P.S. Didn't win crap.
