I know there have been debates here over Paula Deen, but I've stayed out of them, mostly because I don't watch her.

I knew she made fattening food, but this is nuts!

Adding a WHOLE BOX OF SUGAR to 24 KRISPY KREMES???

hahah i'm not suprised at all.

paula deen is sort of an idol of mine, probably because i find her and her food hilarious.

O_O

krispy kreme burgers?

wow.  this is kind of ridiculous.  i don't watch her show, and i always thought that she was just that gradma-type cooking figure...but jeez, this is just gross...

Never watched before but....good night....Wow, that's crazy! Even at my most indulgent I knew better than that...that's bordering on sick. Someone needs to stop her if this is what her recipes are like! WTHeck? It's sort of like the old cigarette commercials, you know, promoting incredibly unhealthy foods in massive quanities is the same as promoting smoking cancer causing cigs...

Wow....I can't believe it. The donut sandwich about stops up an artery just thinking about it.

It almost seems like a joke, only the joke's on anyone who makes it and eats it.

As a pastry chef, I can say that Paula Deen makes pastry chefs everywhere *facepalm*. She is not representing us fairly. That is not food!! Laughing

Paula Deen is a mess, no question, but the fact that this food writer doesn't seem to know the difference between volume and weight (saying a "cup" of cheese is 8 1 oz servings) leads me to question her credibility.

"Have fun at Thanksgiving, because you might not see Christmas." lol love that quote under the deep fried stuffing.

That's true and I noticed it too. But I was so shocked I started looking these recipes up in other sites and reviews and there is just no denying the fact that she is nuts with the food. Still can't believe the krispy kreme burger...and I found that everywhere on the web. It's no joke--she's serious...as a heartattack

is she high?

I just plugged in the recipe for the Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding and had to share this with you.

The entire recipe (which lets assume feeds 6-8 people?) has:

over 7,000 calories!!

ps- where does it say a "cup" of cheese is 8 1 oz servings. i see that it says that each person would get roughly a cup and that the recommeded serving is 1oz...

It reminds me of the website

OMG... I am keeping this link around for the days when I feel I could eat a house.  The Hurler Burger alone makes  me feel like I am going to hurl.

And as far as Paula Deen is concerned, I saw her in person at a Williams Sonoma event, and although she was very nice, I felt like all the people in her crew, including her husband were walking on tippy toes around her, like they were trying to not make her snap.  Remember, she did used to be a complete recluse.  GROSS, GROSS, GROSS!

Maybe being a recluse explains some of it. These are things to eat in extreme secrecy.

Is she joking?  (I mean, for real?)  I had to look her up to see who she was.  I think she's just a comedian though because this looks really nasty:

I've been waiting for her to have a heart attack, ala Graham Kerr and Paul Prudhome. Her husband is overweight and very red in the face - a stroke waiting to happen.  A friend of mine claims she's trying to kill us all.

And she's not kidding about her cooking - she owns a restaurant and serves that kind of artery clogging food every day.

For those who think she's funny - Yep.  She's laughing all the way to the bank.

No one is force feeding anyone this food.  The way she cooks, it's her thing.  She's a southern gal and traditionally southern food has a lot to do with butter, mayonnaise, meat, and deep fat frying.  If you don't like it, don't eat it and don't watch the show.  No one should "stop her".  She's free to do what she likes.  She makes these recipes to entertain and be extreme in order to grab people's attention.  I've never seen her hold someone down and shove a Krispy Kreme burger down their throat.  She also never touts any of her dishes as being healthy.  She readily acknowledges that they are full of butter and fat.

A little fried chicken or even a serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding every once in a while isn't going to hurt you.  Everything in moderation people.

Krispy Kreme burgers wow...it looks and sounds gross...but you dont have to make her recipes. One of my sisters likes Paula and watches her show..I have seen her show a few times...she is a funny women and fun to watch....=)

We could apply that mentality to smoking as well then. If you don't want to smoke, don't do it...that still won't stop us all from carrying the unbelieveable medical costs of those who smoke. And we, as a society have evolved enough now to know better than to advertise or glamorize it on tv or sell a show promoting it. There's a health issue here just as striking as cigarettes. Sure if you're going to eat like that, ok, but promoting and selling it? No. That's not ok.

Southern cooking is not like this. She goes far and beyond even the heaviest southern food. I mean, for god's sake, she's deep frying eight cups of cheese!

And I fail to see any sort of moderation in her recipes. Common sense people!
