To order Peanut Butter that's like 55ish calories per serving.

http://www.chowhound.com/topics/384003

Forum that discusses what it's like and if it's good or not.

After seeing it mentioned in a few posts I googled it and as a PB lover I think  I will give it a whirl!

what did they do to it to make it not peanut butter anymore?

as someone who rarely eats peanut butter anymore, i think i'll just stick to a handful of almonds now and then (or whenever i get the chance)

but great find!

It's really good. I use it straight (well, mixed with water) on light English muffins, and in banana/yogurt shakes. I only use 2-3 teaspoons. Each teaspoon has 13.5 calories.

Cool. Regular PB is about 30 Kcals/tsp.

So, how does it compare? Texture? Flavor? Sweetness? Is there any hope for those of us hooked on *crunchy* PB?

Is this stuff a powder mix? I keep reading about people mixing it with water?!?

Try doing that ith your reg PB.

Sounds like they pressed the goobers for the oil and powdered the oil free remainder.

My name is Sally too =D
taste is amazing, texture is fine, i cant get enough xD
It's amazing.  I use it in sauces, or I'll mix it straight with my jelly.  It's really good for cooking!  And, of course, straight up.
Yup, im a big fan of this stuff too (i enjoy eating a bite dry now and then when i want a peanuty taste :)

Its just pressed so the peanut oil is pushed out (like what they do to get olive oil).

Just so you know, the peanut oil does not contain any of the peanut flavor (though, fat does help transmit taste in foods, it doesnt provide it). All the peanut flavor comes from the protein in the peanut, which is why this pressed peanut-butter tastes so much like normal stuff.
lorik. i was just wondering how you know that.

also. does the jar have an ingredient list? is it just peanuts?
The ingredients are peanuts sugar and salt (although one serving only contains 1g of sugar and I think 50g of sodium, but I could be wrong).
It is a little less thick than peanut butter, but taste wise, it's exactly the same.
the serving size is 2 tablespoons. is that 2 tablespoons of the powder, or after you've mixed it?
I'm guessing of the powder, I've been wondering the same thing. It's so low in calories that it doesn't make much of a difference anyway. I go by 2tbsp of powder.
sorry for asking so many questions..but i got one more..
if they take out all the oil does the peanut butter powder still have the healthy fats?
It's 54 cals for 2 tbsp of the powder.  And yes, it does still have the healthy fats, because it's just ground up peanuts and the nuts are what have the healthy fat anyway.  What you're NOT getting is the hydrogenated oils and saturated fats that come in regular pb.
the hydrogenated oils are added into regular pb. all nautral peanut butter is just peanuts. but they have that layer of oil at the top when you buy it because that is the natural peanut oil. from what im hearing, they squeeze out all that natural peanut oil and turn the rest into a powder form. isnt the natural peanut oil where all the healthy fats are?
Well, yes, with PB2 a lot of the fats are gone.  It only has 2.8 g fat for 2 tbsp of powder, as opposed to 12 g fat in regular pb!  But that small amount of fat that's there is the good-for-you kind.  I like it because it's low-fat AND heart-healthy.

Absolute coolness. I'm looking at this stuff as potential hiking and camping food. Sounds lighter than regular PB.

<>  What's its shelf life like? Does it need to be refrigerated or anything like that?

<>  Firefox, I just went to the Bell site. If I order from them, should I mention you as having reffered me? Are you a "Peanut Pal" ;-)

<> -CD
The powder doesn't need to be refrigerated, but take note that you can't mix it all up at once.  You have to mix the powder with water every time you serve it, because it doesn't keep once it's been mixed.

  Molto gracie!

I'm looking at maximum tasty protein & minimum weight for backpacking, etc.

Maybe a nice dehydrated African Chicken Stew at teh end of a day of hikiing?!?

Any retail outlets carry this lovely or just thru the site?

Personally, I hate the stuff straight, but it's not so bad mixed with protein powder and almond milk for a smoothie...

Be careful, I find that the "2 tbsp" serving is really a lot more than the 12g it is supposed to equate to.  Thus, I weigh it for 12g rather than measuring tbsp.
