PB2 VS. Better'n Peanutbutter
Ok. I stayed away from these thinking they were just some too good to be true Walden Farms type redux, but I've heard so much hype that I'm ready to track some down! My lowly 1 Tbsp peanutbutter sandwiches are just depressing. I want more!
What's the difference between the two? Any vouchers? Preferences? Please tell me if they really are that awesome, because it appears one must purchase them 3 jars at a time.
FYI I can't even stand the smell of those Walden Farms products, so if these are even remotely comparable PLEASE tell me!
I tried PB2. Wasn't all that impressed. By itself taste is artificial, and not peanut buttery. Even though when I tried dry powder, it had a better taste. When made part of the sandwitch was very hard to taste the PB2 or PB2 Chocolate. I tried making cookies with them, but taste didn't come through. Although I probably didn't add enough. I have a jar of PB2 left. I am going to try to make another batch, but this time I will doube the ammount. Will see. I haven't tried Better'n Peanutbutter. Might give it a shot, since I can buy it by a jar from Trader Joes.

I have tried both. Both do not taste exactly like the real thing, but I think both are good, and for me it is worth the cals savings. I like pb2 better since you can have more of it. 2 tbs of pb2 is 55 cals, 2 of better'n peanut butter is 100 cals, and 2 regular is 190. I think the amount of cals you save is totally worth the taste difference, it def fixes my nut butter craving and unlike peanut butter I don't have the urge to binge on it once I start eating it. I like to mix up 4 tbs of PB2 for 100 cals and dip a banana in it. Its also good stirred into oatmeal or into protein shakes. I haven't tried baking with it but I don't bake much so not really a concern for me there. Only way to find out if you like it is to try it! :)
I have not tried pb2 but I have tried Better n' Peanut Butter and I like it. To me it tastes like reg. pb with a little honey in it. I don't think it has honey in it, but that's what it tastes like to me. I buy it at Trader Joe's one jar at a time....
THANK YOU! I'm thinking I wont like it and hate myself for spending the money. Calories are only "saved" if you truly enjoy what you're eating, right? I'm a peanutbutter elitist. I grind it at my grocer... so delicious! I don't even like Jif, I probably wont like those.
I cannot stand Walden Farms products! That was another "too good to be true... but curiosity killed the checkbook" experiment. They smells like embalming fluid! I felt so embarrassed for buying it!
I think I'll try the peanutbutter/silken tofu trick in my sandwich instead. Any other ideas?
Haha, yeah, i tried better'n PB and it tasted awful. A horrible excuse for peanut butter. I'm a peanut butter snob too, though. I have a big jar in my pantry with a teensy little spoon-dent in it. Wish I could send you a spoonful and let you experience the horror yourself. Peanut butter is awesome, and it's got good stuff in it! Subsitituting BTPB for the good stuff is like substituting warm grape juice for wine. Just don't. George Washington Carver would be ASHAMED of you!
I've heard that if you pour the oil of the top of the natural PB and stir in a few teaspoons of honey, it tastes great and has less fat. I've never done it, though.
Ugh, Better'n Peanut Butter was just AWFUL in my opinion, I also categorized the awkward aftertaste with the Walden Farms crap (though not as bad). I really like PB2, and I think it was definitely worth it.
Better'n PB was a waste of money, and now I have that crap sitting in my fridge. but my personal favorite is Naturally More PB, it's not that much lower in cals (170 for 2 tbsp), but I really love it. I switch between that and PB2 depending on my mood & how many calories I'm willing to spend on one sandwich (:
Hey when you stir it in the oatmeal, do you stir it already mixed with water, or as a powder?

I just stir it in as the powder. Usually there is enough moisture from whatever your cooking the oatmeal in to give it that creaminess.
And I personally love both products. They are unique and yummy and I use both on a daily basis. Better'n Peanut Butter is great on sandwiches or apples, and I stir PB2 into yogurt or oatmeal. The key is to remember they are just yummy peanut-y toppings for your food, not peanut butter. Give them a try, you might find that you really like them.
I like both, a lot. I second the PB2 in the oatmeal, I eat that every morning and it keeps me full until lunch. It is especially good in apple cinnamon oatmeal. I disagree that PB2 is bland, I think it is really good, and you can have 4 spoons on a sandwich for the same calories as 1 spoonful of natural peanut butter. Also, you can buy the exact same thing for cheaper, it is really just peanut flour, which you can find in bulk at some places! I bought one jar of the real stuff and realized...hey, my mom used to bake with this stuff!
I like better n' PB from Trader Joe's as well, and use that on sandwiches or crackers, or to dip apples in. My only complaint about the better n PB is that it is a bit sweet, especially if you prefer natural peanut butter.
As not liking the taste, you just have to try them for yourself! I am a lifelong peanut butter lover, and I LOVE both of these!
I really like the BTPB. Actually, the other day I needed more calories, so I used regular peanut butter instead and I didn't like it, LOL. After half a sandwich, I was gagging on the stuff. I haven't tried PB2, but I think I might have to give it a shot.
PB is a huge weakness of mine, too, and I usually cannot have a jar and a spoon in the same room! I just recently discovered BTPB, and I am hooked. If you can find it, I recommend getting the lower sodium because I think it tastes less sweet and a little more peanut-y. I find mine in the Organic Foods section at Kroger. As long as you don't try it expecting it to taste just like the real stuff, you might be surprised how good it is. And like others have said, I can have it in my fridge and not feel tempted to eat the entire jar!
