pc help- PLEASE
my computer keeps redirecting my browser and not going to the requested pages. everytime i look for a solution, duhhh i get redirected again what do i do.
That happened to our PC too. First we tried getting rid of all the spyware (spyware doctor), but it still came back. Upgraded our virus protection - still came back. After a week of playing around with internet browser, security, and cookie settings, we figured the only way to stop it was to take it into a specialist. But it being a 6 year old computer, we decided to retire it and get a Mac.
Sorry I couldn't be more help - the spyware thing may help you, depending on how deep the problem is. I hope you get rid of it - it's quite irritating.
Play with your security, run an antivirus/spyware check.
delete cookies and files and phliching.
Reboot.
Throw computer out the window or hit repeatedly with a sledge hammer.
To what exactly do you get redirected? Finding the source is the first step.
If you can run a spyware program, it will tell you what is infecting your computer. Once you know what it is, good search for it and you should be able to find some directions to deal with that specific spyware/virus. Sometimes though, it's just best to format/reload your computer. Btw, Macs have spyware also.
I googled the name of the site that I was redirected to along with the word "virus." I found instructions on how to go into the Windows registry and make the changes necessary to solve the problem. It was somewhat complicated.
The next step would be to find out how it got onto your computer in the first place. Specifically, what site you went to or what program was downloaded so that you can stop it from happening again.
Back up and nuke it from orbit ;) Its the only way to be sure.
Make sure you run a Malware check too. A lot of spyware or virus software doesn't check for it. If this link works it should give you lots of malware scanning options and many are for free.
It sounds like a virus, hopefully not that damn vundotrojan one. It could be many viruses, though. You could try to restore your computer to another time if the malware hasn't disabled that option.
Did it disable updates for your virus scanner?
Does it block access to anti-virus and anti malware sites?
Does it block regedit?
Does it block folder options?
Does it block windows task manager?
Maleware like these have a tendency to save themselves in your system restore, so that is one reason why you can never get rid of them.
Download two prgrams, update them, and run them. Get Spybot Search and Destroy and the free anti-virus software Malwarebytes.
You will need to disconnect from the internet when you run these programs, and possibly restart the computer in safemode.
To prevent yourself from being affected by malware like this in the future, buy a good virus scanner with a FIREWALL.
Another thing to do is update your javascipt because I got a whole delicious packages of trojans and spyware because an outdated version of javascript.
This is from downloading too much porn. I try to keep my porn downloads within a reasonable volume. If you download too much porn your browser will usually get agitated and start doing what IT wants rather than what YOU want.
Some tips to avoiding agitating your browser:
1. Try to think about what BOTH of you might like rather than just what YOU like.
2. Anything taboo must be discussed with your browser before venturing any further.
3. Communication is key. Listening and showing that you care can mean the difference between a 32% average cache hit rate and a 64% average cache hit rate.
Elaine911 was looking at porn and caught a virus! haha...
