hi there,

i'am 17 years old

my stats are

164cm

56kgs

my story is that three years ago i was over weight by at least 35lbs , when i was overweight my periods came on really heavy and painful. then i found out i had a cyst on my left ovary which made my periods really irregular to the point where i stopped having it for a year. also i had serve pelvic pain , well the cyst shrank but i was still overweight.

So, its only been these past six months where i reached my goal weight. but my periods came really light to the point where i havent got my period any more. where the time my periods are meant to come i only get pelvic pain.

also i have other symptoms like:

outbreak of acne concetrated on my forehead

facial hair on my chin , jawline but not too serve

so , iam waiting for next month to see whether my body needs to adjust to my new weight . if, my period doesn't appear again i will see the doctor

There are several reasons why you'd get the symptoms you describe.  If you've already had one cyst on an ovary, it's not unreasonable to assume that PCOS is a possibility.  I wouldn't wait another month to see a doctor if you're experiencing severe abdominal pain and absent periods.... I'd go now.

I am not sure but I heard that having a cyst on one ovary doesn't mean PCOS.  PCOS means that you have to have Cysts on BOTH ovaries.

by the way, some women miss their periods because of stress only or losing weight too fast ( as in my case, that was the primary reason).

an ultrasound will show if  you have PCOS or not. don't stress out. stress is your number one enemy.

good luck.

Obviously you know you should see a doctor. It could be PCOS, it could just an hormonal imbalance or it could be something far worse than both. I wouldn't wait around because no period and abdominal pain is something I'm far too familiar with and wish I had seen a doctor sooner. I'd go as soon as possible.

I have pcos and thought the symptoms you describe could be pcos they could also be cause by numerous other things.  Two things I would like to add are there is no ONE test for pcos, it diagnosed by a process of eliminating other possibilities. And most pcos patients cysts don't shrink (I had to have my surgically removed and more grew back) and you don't have to have cysts to have pcos, its a hormonal imbalance.  Also if you have cysts it doesn't mean you have pcos.

Go to your doctor only he can run the needed tests and answer your questions with definite answers.

Take care and good luck.

You could have PCOS and have all or none of the traditional symptoms, it's such a broad syndrome.

I was diagnosed with it after an internal scope was done of my ovaries.
