I absolutely love peanut butter, but I am unsure how to 'eyeball' a serving size.  I heard somewhere that one tablespoon is about the size of a golf ball. A serving is about 2 tablespoons, so in order to eat one serving of peanut butter, I am allowed about 2 golf balls worth.  Is this correct?

I think a gold ball is more than one tablespoon. I just measure mine out in an actual tablespoon before eating it.
I would think not...Pull out a tablespoon, and measure out a serving and see how big it is...I dont know if 2 TBSP would even make a golf ball...but it might...
A tablespoon is the bigger one (in terms of the 2 standard spoons included in flatware), right?
I would guess take a teaspoon and measure it out LOL. they have them measuring devices out there ;0)
Peanut Butter is my WEAKNESS! So if we're talking peanut butter I WISH a serving was the size of a golf ball... but sadly is not even half of that... :(
I love pb too and I measure a tbsp worth. A golf ball is definitely bigger.
I'm at college, so I have no measuring spoons, how can I tell how much is 2 tbsps?
technically, yes it would be the bigger one. But I have also heard not to use flatwear to measure medicine for my children bc the sizes are not accurate for a real tea or tablespoon. I would use the bigger spoon, but remember it is just a loose guess...and dont pile the PB real high in there...  :-)
i'd say one Tbs is about the size of your thumb from where it joins your hand to the tip (if you're a woman and don't have super huge or super tiny thumbs) that's really rough, but pretty close, if it's the best you can do... or if you wear an athletic watch, think about a blob that's a semisphere with a base about as big or a little bigger than the face of your watch... what else... a little smaller than a reeces peanut butter cup if you can picture that... a tablespoon is plenty, but its' not really that big a blob when you look at it... definitely not as big as a golf ball, not even as big as half a golf ball... maybe about half a ping-pong ball? for one tablespoon. or, you could just buy a measuring spoon. they're not really very expensive and you can get them in most grocery stores...
Found it!  TWO tablespoons of peanut butter is equal to ONE ping pong ball.  Thanks everyone.
mmm ping pong balls.. my weakness
Try Better N' Peanut Butter. It is 100 Calories for 2 TBSP and 2.5 g Fat.It is delicious!! 1 TBSP is plenty for a sandwich that would only be 50 calories and 1g fat! And believe me, it does taste better than peanut butter. You can get it at Wild Oats, Mustard Seed or Trader Joes, or any whole food store.
I couldn't do that.  I'd just start rationalizing the size of the ping pong ball.  "Oh yeah, well in Hoodathunkitstan the regulation ping pong ball IS 5 inches in diameter"
yea PB is really 1 of my weaknesses too...... i usually use the teaspoon as my table spoon but i guess thatd be incorrect too lol who knowsssssss
I bought measuring scoops to determine the real sizes cuz i was never sure how to use the spoon (like where to i level it off?, etc). i got it at target for less than 2$ =]
I just measured out 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and it's no where near the size of a ping pong ball.  It's lots smaller.  You've gotta measure!
I like peanut butter. But I spread them THIN on each of the bread slice. If measured total probably 1 tbs worth. I'm so lazy measuring LOL. The important thing for me is to satisfy my taste bud without sacrificing my calories, thus I do what I do with PB.

Hi,

A tablespoon is about the size of your thumb from the knuckle down.  The other thing you could do, is the next time you are by tim hortons or another fast food place that serves soup, ask for a soup spoon.  They are most of the time a tablespoon (or at least close).  If you are by the dollar store, you can get a set of measuring spoons for a dollar as well.  It is worth it really.  If find that if I eyeball things, I underestimate, so I don't eat the whole serving.

Hope this helps.

Kim
I have an inexpensive food scale that measures in ounces and grams.  I find that is absolutely the most accurate way for me to measure my food.  All serving sizes on packages are listed in grams.
