Depends which one your having, there are healthy ones and very unhealthy ones all are high cal though
Peanut butter is sooo good, how can it be bad for you?
its peanuts and oil, isn't it? vegetable oil is bad for you in large amounts. 15g of peanut butter is best. But why not just eat a handfull of nuts instead - saves you the oil!
You can get 100% PB - no added oil!
I stick to 15g PB. its a good amount. At most, 20g. Not too piggy

wow thanks herring i did not know that! shelf life must be shorter tho im guessing?
I usually find myself eating 3 tablespoons in order to boost my fat and protein content for the day. I buy a natural type that is just made from ground peanuts, however, there is still peanut oil from the peanuts that were used to make it.
i usually eat 2tbsp of peanut butter a day just b/c i am addicted to it. i been feeling kind of like it is too much for some reason though.
Peanut butter is wonderful, in moderation, as mentioned before.
It's just tough for those of us who sometimes cannot control ourselves :)
However, it is definitely NOT the worst thing you could eat.
I LOVE me some PB :)
Have a great day,
MC

I agree the kind that is just peanuts is best-- you can even make it yourself in your food processor. Almond butter or cashew butter is yummy too -
I find that now, I can get the benefits, and usually my evening snack is 1 - 1.5 Tablespoons of peanut butter on some whole grain toast or a piece of celery.

Read those labels! I like brands of peanut butter that have just one ingredient - PEANUTS! The best and freshest is the kind that you can grind yourself. Whole Foods Market has a peanut butter grinder.
The oil should be just what's in the peanuts themselves. If it has added oils and fats, and other strange sounding ingredients, then it's not for me.

I have a peanut butter sandwich for lunch almost everyday. I switched to Simply Jif low sodium. PB does have lots of calories and fat but it really does "stick to your ribs" and keeps me from getting hungry.
