Pear shaped exercise?

Quote  |  Reply

I need to work on toning and building muscle, but don't want to be more unbalanced than my body type already makes me. Yoga maybe? Is running a good one for me? Would it bulk up my lower half? Ideally looking for lean muscle & am unsure of how to go about it. thanks :)

Well, squats, deadlifts, etc. are very important no matter what your size, but the best way to balance out a pear shape is to do upper body exercises - rows, chinups, pushups, shoulder press - so that your upper body looks more "defined" (I don't really know how else to explain it). It definitely helped me to go from looking more pear to more hourglass.

I'm definitely a pear-shaped girl too, and my upper body is defined! It's my lower body, the part that makes me a "pear" that needs work.

I've read that nothing can change the shape that you are, but if you work on simply losing weight than the fat in your body will look more evenly distributed. Basically, you would be a smaller, firmer pear!
