I ate some apple slices with peaunt butter spread on them. then i looked at the calories in peter pan peaunt butter and it said 2 tablespoons is the serving size and the calories are 190. But it said the container's serving size is 15. Well it defintiley looks like there are more then 30 tablespoons in that jar. So does that mean that 190 isnt the actual amount for only 2 tablespoons?
And if 190 is the amount for only 2 then is it still ok to eat a lot of peaunt butter because its good protein and fat?

Well, you shouldn't be LIVING off peanut butter but, yes peanut butter is good to have. It is good in protein, and high in healthy fats that are good for you and your heart but be weary of some peanut butter brands adding things other than just natural peanuts. :] Enjoy your peanut butter, but just watch how much you are having! Keep in mind it can add up REALLY fast. Also, I would go more for the actually measurement of serving sizes than just the amount of servings in a jar, better to get accurate measurements than just estimating about one thirtieth of a jar for your serving size. ;-P
Remember as well.. if youhave a HEAPING tabls of PB, it's most likley more than one serving. I always weigh to be sure.
The partially hydrogenated oils are not good. Find a peanut butter without them if you want to count your peanut butter as a "good" fat. I use Skippy Natural, it is the same taste & texture as the regular so why it doesn't have the partially hydrogenated oils and their other ones do is beyond me. Though I remember reading that anytime we heat oil it becomes Trans fats. AHHHH someone throw me a bag of unsalted dry roasted peanuts please! Nevermind I better grow them myself...rof
Have you ever tried PB2? It tastes just like regular peanut butter, but they take the oil out of it, so it comes in powder form. Just add a little water and you have yourself some yummy, low calorie peanut butter. I think it's only 57 calories for 2 tablespoons.

Does that mean if we microwave our bread with pb on it, some of the fat will convert to trans fats? =[
I just looked into this PB2 stuff, and evidently you have to order 4 jars as the minimum order! That's an awful lot if you don't like it!

I am working from memory, but I think it has to reach a certain temp. It is worth investigating for the sake of our health. :)
different oils have different temps at which they turn to trans fats - olive oil, e.g. is one of those oils that should only be used cold, since it's transformation to transfat is a very low temp (180 celsius) - when cooking or frying things, the best to use is coconut oil - it comes in flavor and non-flavor... but this, of course, has little to do w pb---just thought i would share this info.

Still don't understand why some people are afraid of peanut butter. Anyways, i'm pretty sure they measured out the amount of product they are dispensing into the jars. Just measure the two tablespoons out and you'll be fine.
Oh, and yes, peanut butter is very good for you.

I agree, I started weighing and was SHOCKED at how skewed my vision of 1 tbsp of PB was....but now I can make a sandwhich with just one tbsp and I don't even miss the excess PB from before.
I <3 my food scale.
one tablespoon of peanut butter is A LOT more than you may think

Yea, mercy_bobcat, thats was what I was thinking. I dont actually measure because I just like taking out the jar and quickly putting some on some bread and im a kid so i dont really want to measure anyway. But bascially Im estimating the tablespoon but i may be way underestiamting or way over estiamting..... i really dont know......
Jif Peanut butter is 28oz, 793g. Serving is 32g. 793g/32g gives 24.8 servings and label shows 25. What size container did you have?
Tablespoon is a unit of volume not weight.

What I did was I split the order with a friend who was interested in it and we each got two jars for around $12 per person. We both liked it.

They'll also refund your money if you end up hating the stuff (which I don't find possible :p).
From their website:
"Shipping costs prevent us from providing samples of PB2. If you order a 4 pack of PB2 and find that it’s not for you (highly unlikely!), please notify us via email at Customer Service, which is available on our website. We’ll ask that you return three unopened jars and we’ll gladly refund your money – guaranteed!"

I'm aware. The label it says "1 tbsp (15g)". So I would weigh out 15 g...
