My Pedometer.

Quote  |  Reply

I recently purchased a good quality pedometer and tried it out yesterday and I am a little confused about the amount of calories it is telling me that I have lost compared to what Calorie Count is telling me. The pedometer colorie loss is way lower that what Calorie Count is telling me. I walk for about 40 minutes a day and the pedometer is saying I am only losing nearly half the calories as what Calorie Count is telling me. Could someone help out with this. Colorie has been fantastic for me as I have lost over 22lbs in 14 weeks. I am just a bit confused about the pedometer readings.

Hmmm.  That's odd.  I don't have an answer for you, but I recently started using the pedometer on my iPod Nano and it's pretty close to what CC has.

what kind of pedometer do you have? Did it allow you to enter in info such as weight and stride lenght.  That makes a huge difference in the calculations. The ones that are on here are pretty basic and you have to guess as how fast you were going and such to get a calorie expenditure.  I used the one on here initially before I got a pedometier that tracks everything for me.  However, I had to get all the settings down in it correctly before it really started giving me the right amounts (and truthfully I'm still not absolutely sure its giving the "truest" amounts but I have to take it on faith :)).

Thats probably what you're seeing difference wise.

I got it off Ebay and it has not got on it what you are saying. At least I cant find it. So I will leave it alone and just time my walks and use Calorie Count maybe better that way. Thanks for your help anyway.
