I pee alot, help me!!
I am 39, 156, would like to be 135. I eat 1500 calories a day of healthy food. I exercise four days a week. I started eating 1500 calories about three weeks ago because I was not doing well on 1200 calories and below ( not losing any weight ) So anyways, I have noticed ( hard not to ) that I am peeing alot more. At night I am up every two hours peeing. Not a kind of gotta go feeling but a I held it all day feeling. It really sucks, it interuppts my much needed sleep. And I still haven't lost any weight, you would think I would at least lose something, even water weight would be nice.
I have been to the doctor and nothing wrong there, ( he actually said I was as healthy as a teenager
) Does anyone have an explanation for this? Or experience the same thing? I don't think I go that much during the day but I will pay more attention today and see. Oh and I don't drink water excessively just what I need. As a matter of fact I don't drink anything except water and skim milk.
Maybe you could try not drinking anything two hours before you go to sleep. Give your kidneys chance to process all the fluid from your drinks and food so that you can go to sleep on a completely empty bladder? The only explanations I can think of for what you describe are.... too much liquid (more than 1 litre a day), a weak bladder, kidney problems or a bladder infection such as cystitis. An early warning sign for diabetes is excessive urination accompanied by excessive thirst. If you're drinking 'what you need' but it turns out to be a lot more than normal, that would be notable. (Did they check your blood sugars?) You don't mention if you're taking any other medications. I also wonder if you're waking up because you need to pee or whether you're waking up for other reasons (stress, for example) and then emptying your bladder for something to do.
Keep an accurate diary of everything you eat and drink for a few days. If it continues, go back to your doctor armed with the information. Best of luck.
I don't drink after dinner ( eat around sixish ) I don't take any medications. I have had blood tests and no sugar problems there. No bladder infections either, everything is in good shape. I wonder about what you said about the stress thing. I am a stressful person. I never thought of that at all. I'm not the best sleeper so maybe that is what it is. I don't feel like I drink excessively, I don't even drink the required 8- to 10 glasses of water a day. Maybe half that. Thanks for your help.
I'm 32 and I noticed that in the past year, that I usually get up once during the night to tinkle. I go tinkle just before I go to sleep though.
As noted, make sure it's not something medical. Note if there are other symptoms that you may be having. Also, since you upped your calories, is it an increase in watery foods? Ya' know....veggies and fruits or soups. One thing to consider; It could start getting psychological. As in "gee, I hope I don't have to pee....I hope I don't have to pee..." Then, you talked yourself into it. I know, it sounds stupid but it could be a culprit.
Just note what you eat and drink, especially before bed. If it becomes especially troublesome, go see your doc....maybe a sleeping issue, maybe a tinkle issue, maybe nothing.
Since you've been to the doctor to have everything checked including blood sugar and whatnot, it could be hormonal too. I noticed when I got to around 40-ish that intermittently I had this problem too. Some days (and nights) were so annoying that I just called them "pee days".
And I agree with trendstudent that this can get psychological too. I'm guilty of that but only if I'm not at home or work.
You can also get a lot of fluids from the foods you eat. Fruits, veggies. If blood sugar problems and urinary tract problems have been ruled out it is probably just related to aging. I get up at least twice a night myself. More if I eat a lot of fruit or veggies and I do drink tons of water so I go all day long.
Frequently having to relieve yourself is usually a sign that you're doing well to keep hydrated. I know when I fall off the wagon, so to speak, with drinking lots of water, I often have to pee like crazy when I start hydrating myself because my body's not used to having so much fluid. If you're genuinely concerned, though, don't be shy about talking to a doctor.
Consider having your doctor check your blood sugar level. a simple test in which your blood is taken from a finger stick and the glucose level is measured. often the first sympoms of diabetes is frequent urination possibly before any other symptoms are noticed. good luck
I have the same problem! I am young and a vegetarian, so naturally water-based foods are a staple of my diet. I am sure that on your lowered calorie diet you are eating plenty of veggies as well (maybe more than you're body is normally used to). unfortuantely, ass the water from the veggies to the water from drinking and you get...peeing a lot! I have had this problem for a while, and do notice that drinking less during the day helps, however its hard and probably not the best to deny your own thirst. unfortuantely there is really nothing you can do (or at least that i have found), but just take pride in knowing that you're being healthy and you're body is working effectively...it just sucks that for a few of us a side-effect is an over-active bladder....hope this helps a little bit!
