I love cheese and I was wondering where in Chicago I can get Laughing Cow cheese wedges? I've tried Jewel and Target.
Any ideas???
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Foods forum
I'm not from Chicago, but I know that Trader Joe's carries Laughing Cow cheese, and there are multiple Trader Joe's locations in the area.
Dominick's has laughing cow cheese. I've seen a ton there.
I'm in the far north suburbs, but my Jewel has it.
sharz96: I live near UIC and my Jewel doesn't have it ![]()
I will try Dominicks and Trader Joe's
Thanks everyone for their suggestions... I really need the cheese.
I used to live in the 'burbs and Meijer had it. Look around the specialty cheeses instead of the Kraft cheese.
sharz96: Do you find it in the specialty cheese section in Jewel??
sarah_mc21: Never heard of Meijer. Don't think there's one close by.
I live in the 'burbs and my Jewel has it....I don't think I ever looked for it in Dominicks.
You should look in the aisle at Jewel with the "specialty cheeses". Not the display near the deli, but the one with the pre-packaged Sara Lee sandwich cuts.
I know that the Jewel-Osco off of Roosevelt has them, as does Dominick's. Just have to look in the right place!
most grocery stores have the Laughing Cow cheese in the Deli area, rather than the Dairy area. Check where your store keeps it's "specialty cheeses" like chunk mozzarella or chunk parmesan etc...
I'm actually 30 miles north of Milwaukee. :):)

She's right. I've seen laughing cow cheese at this Jewel. I go there every week. It's a big store. It is at Roosevelt and State/Wabash.
HAHA! We could have been there at the same time. Creeeepy!
I have the easiest time finding them in Sam's club but that's the only place. But, not all Sam's club have different flavors. The one closest to me only has original and swiss light. I like the flavorful ones best. I have to travel to far suburbs for those. :(
Jewel only carries the Babel disks. :( Not quite the same thing.
Edit: I should've read the above posts before replying. I've checked the Jewel's on Roosevelt & Harlem, Madison & East, Cermak & Harlem, Pershing & Harlem, and Cass & 75th with no luck. (I get around, lol).

I wouldn't be suprised if we've crossed each other's paths (without knowing it)...It's a small world :-)
val - I'll make it a point to look for laughing cow cheese the next time I go there. I shop midweek to beat the weekend rush...so it may take 2-3 days for me to report on what I've found..
Since all of you are from the Chicago area, I was wondering about how many calories do you think are in a Hot Dog Chicago Style? I haven't had an authentic one of those since leaving the area in 2001. As far as I'm concerned it's the only way to eat a hot dog.
I don't know about the cheese- but I just wanted to say hi to all the chicago girls here!
I am about 90 mins south down 57- nice to see you all!
Melissa
Had to chime in and say Hey to all the Chi-town folk! I'm in River Forest / Oak Park area. I never have problems finding cheese. If you can't find the laughing cow (which really would surprise me) try the BonBell little rounds. They are really good.
But I can't resist a shout out to REAL cheese as opposed to processed, which LC and BB are both. Just a comment since I do occassionally by processed but I try to stick to the real stuff whenever possible. It's just better for you and I think tastes much better.
FYI, If ya'll want to take a field trip some time and are interested in a terrific, low priced cheese extravaganza, check out Caputo's cheese market located in Melrose Park just off of North Ave. It's on a tiny little street (15th) and a little hard to find but well worth the trip. I'm telling you, the best cheese in the area and the lowest prices cause they sell so much. Let me know if anyone wants more info...
Most Chicago style hot dogs start with a Vienna beef hot dog, which is around 130-150 calories. Now you add on 1 poppy-seed roll: around 140 calories. Now, the tomatoes, onions, relish, pickle, mustard, sport peppers and celery salt probably together add on at most 20 more calories, so you're talking around 300 calories per.

I go through your area ALL the time! I personally don't like the BB cheeses but I love the LC wedges. For some reason my cat attacks me for the foil when I eat 'em though. Lol
NEways, I'm heading to Caputo's after work tonight but not the one off North. I will eyeball the cheeses while there though...thanks for the heads up!! BTW, the Caputo's I'm thinking of is a produce market.
in Melrose Park.
Yeah, Jewel on Roosevelt to me is the one at State. I work in South Loop so it's easily accessible on my way home (Hyde Park, woot woot!)
