Why do people dislike tall women?
I'm 5'10" and am pretty much banned from ever wearing heals because if I do, whenever I walk around in town, I get weird looks from everyone.
You know, those disapproving "You're wearing that?" looks.
Even my mum doesn't like me wearing heals.
And I'm not talking about giant platforms or 6" heals, I'm talking about 2-3" boots.
... I found these ankle boots while shopping today and they were the first shoes I had found that I actually liked, but of course I couldn't get them because when I tried them on, I suddenly became "stupid giant woman" and the people on the other side of the isle (particularly short girls by the way) looked up and gave me this weird look like "Oh my god, freak! why is she trying on the heals???"
Hmmph society is cruel to the tall.
or is it just me they don't like in particular?

Was brave and brought a pair of boots I fell in love with in the store.

... Might go out for lunch tomorrow, just to get out of the house and relax and have some "Me" time...

Eff them. Wear your heals and strut your junk.
Just don't wear 6" heals because you may be mistaken for a drag queen. 
if i were 5'10" i would wear the highest heels possible. i'm 5'8" but until i was about 11 and everyone else caught up, i was freakishly tall, and i liked it.
stop worrying about what you think people are thinking about you (because when we do that, we're almost always wrong), and wear what you want to wear.
I feel your pain. I am 5'11. I get comments all the time about my height, and I really don't like that. I think it is pretty rude to comment on a stranger's physical appearance, even if to some it might be a compliment. It is still rude.
As for the heels, I know what you mean. I have actually had people come right out and say to me "You're wearing HEELS?" and this was like a 1" heel serious. One time I had to wear 2" heels (GASP) to a formal function. I had to buy them right before and only had one store to stop at because it came up quickly and I didn't have anything suitable. Heels were basically all they had that I could wear that were dressy. You should have seen the catty looks I got from other women. Women are the worst about it too. I think it's a jealousy thing. My husband is shorter than me, and he actually WANTS me to wear heels. He likes it.
I sometimes will wear 1" to 1.5" now and got used to it. If anyone ever says anything to me about it again, I'm going to say "Hey, I'm not going to wear ugly shoes for the rest of my life because YOU'RE insecure." Maybe that is bitchy, but one good turn deserves another.
Oh hey, I just realized... it's kind of like telling a pretty girl she can't wear makeup because she's already pretty and she'd be TOO pretty, which is just stupid. If you think of it that way, those critical people seem pretty ridiculous.

What!? Tall women have it made! I'm 5'11'-6' and life is goooooood! I wear heals all the time and have never felt like anyone looked at me like I shouldn't be wearing them. Maybe its just a mind thing. I also stand up straight, shoulders square, so that I reach my full height. I love being tall though. Some women don't, for whatever reason. But I think it's one of my best gifts and I'm very proud of it.
So put on those pretty boots, 'cause they're made for walk'n (I'm about 6'3' in mine).

I dared to ware boots once and she told me to take them off.
Being tall doesn't mean you can wear shoes you love. There's this girl that used to hang around at my favourite club. She was about 1,85 metres, and wore killer stilleto's. Result: smoking hot long legs!
Im 4'11...and id give my right arm to be that tall. Those short girls are looking at you saying "omg...I wish". So I say wear those heels and be proud of your height.
as an average height girl-- I am NOT looking at you like you are a freak, it is totally "omg-- I wish" and you probably look stunning being so tall....
I mean isnt Brooke Sheilds like 6 ft and NO ONE would ever tell her to not wear heels...

Im nearing 5'8 and I have a range of 5' inch heels infact my highest pair are 5.2 inches.
This is definitely a confidence issue, not a "can" or "can't" thing. I'm 5'9" and used to only wear flats. I've gained confidence as I've gotten older and now I love to wear heels. I do attribute strange looks to jealousy. Note that the looks are coming from other women (jealousy) and not from men, who seem to appreciate the leggy look.
Wear what you want. If anyone actually comments to you about your height just give a tolerant smile and walk away. Or tell them you're looking out for predators.
I honestly never thought it was weird if tall women wore heels. If anything, it's kind of cool (and I'm short!). A lot of heels just make your legs and/or outfit even more glamorous. Besides, if you can wear heels, do it. Most of them make my feet hurt!
Heels make your legs look fab, so I say go for it. Unfortunately, I do know a tall girl who won't wear heels because her boyfriend doesn't like it (he's something like 5'7"). And I have other friends who insist they "can't wear heels" because they shouldn't be taller than their date. Ridiculous, I say. Short guys need to man up and stop being insecure about these things. 
funny - i'm 5'1 and i hate it and think people find it annoying. plus it's annoying that everyone think's i'm 12

models are tall for a reason, it looks good! and heels make you appear more thin - i say wear em if you like!
