Why do people dislike tall women?
I'm 5'10" and am pretty much banned from ever wearing heals because if I do, whenever I walk around in town, I get weird looks from everyone.
You know, those disapproving "You're wearing that?" looks.
Even my mum doesn't like me wearing heals.
And I'm not talking about giant platforms or 6" heals, I'm talking about 2-3" boots.
... I found these ankle boots while shopping today and they were the first shoes I had found that I actually liked, but of course I couldn't get them because when I tried them on, I suddenly became "stupid giant woman" and the people on the other side of the isle (particularly short girls by the way) looked up and gave me this weird look like "Oh my god, freak! why is she trying on the heals???"
Hmmph society is cruel to the tall.
or is it just me they don't like in particular?
**EDIT**
Was brave and brought a pair of boots I fell in love with in the store.
Photo in my gallery.
Still hesitant about what my mums going to say about them but I like them, can't want to wander around town in them!
... Might go out for lunch tomorrow, just to get out of the house and relax and have some "Me" time...
And show off my new sexy boots! ![]()

Well I'm not sure about the inteligence thing. Whenever tall broad women are portrayed on tv, they're oafs who are called Olga and look more like men in disguise!
And people tend to dislike models too.
Whether it be for jealousy or whatever.(Sorry if that came off as sounding grumpy, I just woke up.)
If not intelligence, authority. Tall people have more authority than shorter people, especially tall women. People always think I'm the one in charge!! I find that people tend to take me more seriously.
By the way, nice boots! They look great! Also, don't ever worry about looking like a man or being called Olga, lol. You're adorable. ![]()
I am 5'10", an attorney, and I wear heels and sharp suits everyday. All the men are totally intimidated by me. It's awesome.
I'm 5'10 and manage a posh clothing boutique where the "uniform guides" are completely heels for shoes, think sex in the city style. I really struggled with the styling at first as it was completely new to me (my previous job was managing a lingerie shop where styling was not as important).
I once had a management visit where the negitive feedback consisted of the director felt your footwear was "a bit on the comfortable side". This wasn't a hay good for you being all sensible because you spend 9 hours a day stood up (bar one hour lunch which is the only time i can sit). You've picked really good shoes. THis was a why is that women not wearing her Christain Louboutin 4inch fashion forward wonder's.
I basically had to train myself into heels after many years of wearing flats because I was 'too tall' for heels. It started as 1/2 hours a day and now I could literally run for a bus in them and wear them for my whole shift.
Its all about confidence I realise that the product i'm trying to promote and sell does look better when I stand tall that my legs do look better in heels. That I feel good when I feel I look good this added with my weight loss so far has made me much happier but I was pushed into this change but thank heavens for that.
Hay so what if i'm 6.2 in heels I can rock it out. I got a customeer ask me "what the weather was like up there" the other day and I just said it was lovely and laughed. Hay i've got 38inch inside leg messagement in heels and 36inch in flats whats not to love.
Wear your boots with pride they look great. xx
hey:)
I just looked at your pics and you are beautiful!!!! You should be proud of yourself that you lost so much weight!!!!!
its a shame that your mom does not see your beauty!!!!
the boots are awesome and I would wear them all the time:)
I am 5'10' and currently 170lb , 27 years old. I was 5'10 at 13 and was the tollest girl in my class! Mind you, I was much much skinnier up until a year ago when I moved to another city and gained a lot!!!! Most of my adult life I was 135lb -my absolute favorite weight!
But, let me tell you that I wore hills than and wear them now all the time!
Please be proud of your hight!!!!! and dont let anyone tell you otherwise (even your own mother)!!!!

I guess it's human nature to want what you can't have.
You speaketh the truth.
I would love to be 5'5". I think that is the perfect height, so I will take three inches off the OP if she is offering![]()
As for 5'4" being short...I always understood short to mean below average. 5'4" is pretty much a world average for women, so I don't know where that poster lives that average is considered short - Dinaric Alps perhaps?
I don't think short women have a problem with tall women as much as men usually prefer women shorter than them. When I see a woman taller than a man, I have to look twice to see which is the woman and which is the man. I suppose it comes down to societal expectations.
You generally have to be tall to be a ramp model, but not to be a glamour or swimsuit model. As the fashion industry is dominated by homosexual males, its not surprising that many designers aesthetically prefer models who resemble pubescent boys. I don't think its healthy for tall women, or any women, to 'model' themselves on ramp models: those waifs are sick!
I say wear your heels with pride. They always make legs look sexier regardless of your height.
Well, I don't think people dislike tall woman, I think its just because some they probably rarely see tall people that they looked at you like that. Or most of their friends and family are just short. Or... the could of been jealous. Hehehe..
Personally I'd love to be tall. There are many people out there who would kill to have your height. Be proud of yourself, wear the boots, you'll look like a model. Model's are gorgeous, right? I wish I looked like one.
I saw your boots-- love 'em. Gorgeous. Have fun with them, strut your stuff, walk with your head held high!
P.S. I have severe scoliosis, so I'm a lot shorter than I'm suppose to be. I also know a lot of guys that love tall women, short guys too. Don't be ashamed. There is worse out there. I've never had a bf or anyone attracted to me b/c of my scoliosis, so thank heavens that you are tall and can walk with confidence!

That's strange......I've had a totally different experience. I'm tall (5'9) and people are constantly telling me that they are jealous!! Maybe it's all in your head? :D
I say you should wear heels if you like them...i'm sure you look really cute either way!
Being 6'1", I've always been one of the tallest people in class, growing up. I've dated men who are shorter than me; it's kind of impossible not to. Though, I always avoided wearing heels because, well, I -would- look like a drag queen. Most of the comments I get are positive now that I'm an adult. Of course, in school things are generally different. My daughter is 13 years old and stands at around 5'11" already. She gets referred to as "Sasquatch".
You just have to take the stares and comments with a grain of salt. It's impossible to please everyone, so work on making yourself happy instead.
