Asking people who eat HUGH dinner...

Quote  |  Reply
For some people, like me, I don't really eat much through out the day because since I came back to Thailand, I have to eat with my family so how much should I eat for a big dinner EVERYDAY? People told me not to make it a habit but I can't avoid because dinner is the onky time I ever see their face and this is only my summer break and I miss them so much so I think that I want to have a lovely big dinner with them everyday.

Here are some example of what I eat today

Before swimming : a tennis-size apple , a medium size all-chicken meat hotdog (not as fattening as American hotdog and the size is quite smaller)

Snack : 1/4 of a turkey+a bit mayo (I was at a tutoring school so this is all they provide)

Lunch: some rice with stir-fry garlic pork and stir-fry some kind of veggie with very spicy chili

snack: strawberry with a bit of yogurt

These are what I usually eat before dinner but today I add up some almonds and other nuts so I think those are around 200 calories already

I'm 5"1, 49 kg, 16 years-old

How much should I eat for big dinner??

And..how many calories do you gyts have for dinner??

Hi charming.  I see no problem with having a large dinner.  With someone your age and weight you need to actually be eating more (although I really can't tell how many cals you are consuming but I will guess it is not enough).

Go and enjoy dinner-a large one-with your friends/family.  Lots of lean meats, veggies and complex carbs-say no to the white stuff!  Keep it healthy and you will have a great time plus your body will love you for it!

Hi. my stats are similar to yours. im 17, 5'3 and somewhere around 50kg. i eat a big dinner pretty much everyday because im not the one preparing the meals.

i usually have about 800 calories throughout the day, and then for dinner ill have anywhere between 800 and 1000 calories. if i realize that i eat less for dinner one day, then ill have a snack afterwards, or eat a bit more during the day the next day.

i havent really been affected negatively by doing this, so i dont think itll cause u harm. although i would watch out for eating too much things that make u bloat, because then it may interfere with your sleep, especially if dinner is late.

hope this helps

Thank you for your advice. I'm an ED rocovered and having big dinner with my family seems to be the only thing that help me recovering faster and all so I want to keep this up all summer while staying healthy with variety of Thai food! (By the way, real Asian food and snacks are delicious...real ingredients are way better than the one in some restuarant).

By the way, it seems hard to eat brown rice because if I'm not at home and I have to eat out, most places will serve people only white rice. And there are no WHOLE wheat bread here. I went to find in almost every store I know but they are all mix-grain. What would actually happen if I eat white stuff??

Well hi! im almost 16 too but my weight is way, way, way heavier than u... in fact, i will call myself the fattest in school! so abt white stuff, i think its alright lol! as long as u knoe how to balance it in a sense that like only eat abt 2 piece of white bread and eat a little portion of white rice. It will work! trust me! okey thats all!Laughing

i always eat white stuff (rice, pasta, noodles) although i like brown more (but its not my choice) and ive never had any weight or health problems concerning it.

Don't worry too much about white rice. I lived in Hong Kong last year and eat white rice every dinner. I wasn't effected at all. I don't know my weight in Kg but it's 110lbs, and I'm a bit older. I know white rice gets a bad rep. But I don't believe it. I love Thai food so enjoy. I still miss the food from my travels there! Just watch your portions. I normally would eat about a cup of white rice. I'm not sure how your food is served. But if you are giving little bowls to put your food in from the larger platters than eat that size in rice. It's a little more than a fist (an easy way to watch your portion, for me, I'd just look at my hand, for rice I'd eat about the size of my fist of white rice) and enjoy the lots of veggies and protein.
