UHHH I'm so mad tonight I went to a free Los lonley Boys concert with my 3 yr old and 2 yr old. When I got there at 7pm was not crowded at all by the time the concert started it was swarmed with people. I got stuck in the crowd. As I was trying to make my way out I had to hear tons of people saying how innappropriate it was to have a kid there and how stupid I was to have my baby there. Obviously I was trying to make my way OUT of the crowd Thankfully 2 really nice couples helped me manuver my way thorough the inconsiderate and irate and down right mean crowd. On top of that there were tons of familys there I just happened to get seperated from my group and got stuck AND I had to bite my lip not to sob my way through the crowed cause I felt like such an idiot! So much for a good time with your family. Now I'm hungery DAMN!!!

i wonder how they would have felt if they had been in the same position
i had the same thing a few years ago - in a crowded area when on holiday my daughther had gone on a large slide and the guy running it would not let me pick her up over a small rope - she had to go the end of it and meet us there.
by the time we got there she had gone - i and her dad searched and eventually we found her - back with the guy. she had found a policeman (wise kid) and they had taken her back.
she was so upset as we were - needless to say i gave the guy a row for not letting me make sure my little girl was ok. he was sheepish after his dressing down.

I just wondering why you took such small children to a rock concert in the first place. I don't attend many of these events, but every rock concert I've been to was way too wild for kids. Even the outdoor concerts of tamer music like folk and jazz are a madhouse. I can only imagine how this might be magnified at a free concert. Small children can't appreciate the music or the scene.
Of course people who made remarks instead of helping were terribly rude, cruel even, but they had a point. It's a shame you missed the music (those guys are good!) and I'm sure you won't make that same mistake next time.

What a horrible experience! I have a 5 and 2 year old and my husband and I take them everywhere because we enjoy them so much. We took them to a Billy Joel concert (a little tamer admittedly) and had a great time and the children too!
I understand that the free LLB concert was even dauting for adults in that many felt trampled. So, chalk this up to experience and try the larger venues.

I guess I kinda agree that it wasn't appropriate to bring the kids along. Especially with a 3 year old and a 2 year old. A concert is loud, disruptive, smoky and I have to quesiton why you thought it was a good idea to take children with you. Not to mention that if you got there at 7 and THEN The concert started, you had a 2 or 3 year old out until.. 10? 11? I don't know about your kids, but at 2 or 3, I was darned CRANKY after 8.
I've taken my kids to rock concerts, admittedly not quite that young. But still... I see a lot of young kids at the concerts we attend, which are aimed at aging boomers in their 40s and 50s. It's not unusual at all to see families.
With that said, please tell me that you had your kids wear ear plugs! Kids' ears can get damaged very easily from music that's too loud.
Otherwise, next time, try to leave the event before the last song. That way you avoid the crowd surge at the end.
And be choosy - some concerts aimed at younger, 20-something crowds would concern me because there's been problems with stampedes and people killed. The older the crowd, generally the more tame and less likely for a stampede.

Where we live, smoking at concerts is prohibited - even outdoor venues.
There's a lot of alcohol consumption going on, though.

I agree that was rude of them, they should have helped get out of the way, obviously you realized it was a bad idea too. I have been dragged to things that I realize only after I get the full scope how inappropriate it is for children too, but never twice LOL Once it happens you really start to stick up for yourself and kids!
It sounds to me like you were just trying to have a good time with your family. We take our boys everywhere with us too. It sucks that you had a bad experience, but don't let it discourage you enough that you don't take them again. My husband and I mix it up... Sometimes we take them to things like concerts and parties and sometimes they go to Grandmas so we get to have time together.
I have 2 boys, 1 and 3....
I can imagine the stress you must have felt...
