Come on people!! Las Vegas meeting for CCers on 18 Nov.!!!!
Dear CCers
I decided to take the initiative to write this post after seeing that so few people signed up for the meeting in Vegas. I know, I am not going either, and that's probably bc I feel a bit guilty that I decided to post this.
Come on people!! I know there are some of you out there who could go and perhaps don't even know about it. It's a great opportunity to meet your CC friends and make new CC friends. To have fun in Vegas where the weather is nicer than in most parts of the US at that time of the year! To participate in a conference that might help you lose weight even more!
Erik and Igor worked a lot on planning the whole thing and now I see that very few people signed up. I remember there were about 20 persons (at least) who were planning on going when we were trying to organise the meeting. What happened?????

sooo...no one??
YEH what's going on with this? Is it cancelled or is everyone still going?
I am planning to attend. Thanks for the reminder I have to register. I sure hope more people will make it.
I would lov eto but I have a music convention every year the first week of July that takes most of my vacation time AND money....this year it's in Denver
Id certainly love to go, but from NB to Las Vegas is a bit far for me... hope all you going will have fun though =)
Plume - thank you so much for this, really appreciate your effort. The truth is that we are losing a ton of money on this, and this will have to come out of Erik's and my personal pockets.
We have always been aware that it is not cheap to travel and attend an out-of-the-state conference, so we tried our best to minimize the cost for the attendees - we booked a large block of rooms to get a group discount, and moved the conference from Boston to Vegas to help with travel and hotel costs, switched from a yacht to a hotel, etc.
At the beginning it looked really good and we got a total of ca. 30 formal and informal inquiries, but then little happened ever since. In fact, ix emailed yesterday and cancelled her registration. Now we are left with 7 members.. I have been told that there might be additional local members attending, but this still does not help us with the hotel charges.
So - one big last shout out to all of our friends - please tell me asap if there is a chance of you signing up. Erik and I have prepared a ton of material we want to show you - both, from our and CC's past, as well as from its projected future (the entire pipeline for the next 12 months!!). If we don't manage to change your mind now, we will be in trouble.

I would go, but I am on the East Coast, and I don't have enough vacation time to take a trip to Vegas and have it be worth the $.
If you ever do anything in Boston or NYC, I am there.

Yeah, that's afraid learning about ix's cancellation that I got worried.
And I was afraid of what you just confirmed, Igor: you two losing money on this.
This should NOT happen!
Come on people! If I could, I would go.
Maybe we should have some kind of fund raising where the CCers could give a little bit of money to reduce the damage? If everyone contributes a little, it can amount to a lot....

I understand but aren't Erik and Igor Millionaires from the About.Com deal?
bad timing for the meeting, especially w/ thanksgiving the next weekend. Anyway, spending all my money on my trip home for thanksgiving, (and on an attorney but that's another story).
Plume, that's very sweet, but we are not looking for money - all we want to do is what we have been trying since 2003 - make this the most supportive community on the web. An essential part of this is letting people meet each other and strengthen their virtual bonds.
Regardless, we do need to know what to do about this in order to know whether to cancel some plans and refocus our efforts.

Are any of your materials shippable? - I'd love to see any printed materials and I'd be willing to pay shipping & handling + production costs to see them!
I can't make it unfortunately. I would love to meet everyone but I just can't afford it at this time.
Damn this sucks. only 7 people now. :( I wish I could go but I am all the way in the EAst Coast.
I am with whatcolour. If we can get our hand on printed material I would pay for shipping/ handling, etc.
I really hope you guys dont lose a lot of money in this. That sucks. You guys have been really good to us and made this site so much better for everyone. :)
We really appreciate it. :)

Whatcolor - we are only opening our cards for the next year in order to motivate people to come and participate in the event.
I wish I could come - but unless it was weekend driving distance in a really cheap hotel (or with the ability to camp somewhere nearby) I can't afford it sadly. I'm a newly wed with a mortgage and two puppies :(
*Thanks for deleting those spares - I was having technical difficulties*

I so wish that I could be there. I have always wanted to go to Vegas just to say that I have seen it and to get to see all of the people from here, and thank you Igor and Erik for everything, but it's just not possible right now. Money is too much an issue. :(
Igor,
I can totally understand people not being able to travel to Vegas because of money, lack of vacation time, geography, or family commitments. I'm one of those people. But please don't interpret this as a lack of interest or appreciation in C-C.com or your hard work.
It doesn't make sense to put your own incomes in jeopardy for such a small commitment of participants. Would it be an option to set up a web conference? People that are interested in being social can organize mini-CC parties wherever they want, and those of us who can't get to Vegas can still be a part of the presentation.
Just a thought. -jf-

Or even have us have state to state versions that we help organize (say a texas one or a new york one etc) in central locations (cheap ones like a park or something) that we fund ourselves?
I'll be there! All the way from MINNESOTA! C'mon, that's a 2 time zone difference! I'm so excited for my mini vacation. We're getting there Friday evening and staying until Monday morning. WOOT! I hope more people sign up. And don't forget about the Turkey Trot too! I'm gonna be a C-C runner in the 10K! OMG my legs hurt just thinking about it! It's going to rock!!
