conkat, CC is a wonderful resource for gaining diet and exercise information and finding support!

I lost 15# through the help of CCers. But, I had nagging questions. 95% of successful dieters regain their weight. I did not see the point of losing the weight if I would potentially stand to gain it back.

I went looking for long term solutions and believe I have found something very real w/Shrink Yourself. It's a website that informs you on how you sabotage your own efforts...the root cause of overeating/binge eating...they call it emotional eating.

CC will help you lose the weight...these folks here are great. SY can help you keep it off! Good luck to you!
Im new too, we will find out, it would be nice to hear from people who are doing this. That does seem like alot of calories.
I have lost 120 pounds over the past 2 years.  I would not have been able to do it without C-C.

In the most basic of terms, C-C's philosophy is to "eat less and move more."  Use portion control and moderation in your food choices.  Become a regular exerciser.  Log your calories in and calories out and be accountable to yourself.

For me personally, I found that yes, C-C's recommendations as far as calorie intake, calories burned, etc., were mostly correct.  The most important thing is setting the correct activity level for yourself.  I had the most success by keeping my level at Sedentary and logging my workouts.

It took me a bit of trial and error in the beginning as far as finding the right balance of foods, and figuring out what sort of calorie deficit my body seemed to respond to the best, but once I found my groove, I was good to go.

Best of luck to you!

Edited to add: C-C is not a "fast" way to lose weight; this is not one of those "Miracle! Lose 20 pounds in 10 days!" type of plans.  This is a lifestyle change, not a diet.  If you make small, gradual changes to your lifestyle over time, it has been proven that they will become lifetime habits.  People who lose weight slowly through proper diet and exercise tend to keep the weight off.

Yep it works!

You'd be amazed what happens to your body when you eat less and move more!

You will LOVE this site!  Best of luck to you hun.

conkat - if your question was - can you eat 2100 cal and stil lose weight, I sincerely doubt that. I punched in your stats - the only one I  guessed is your age, but that doesn't really matter much, and you are burning 2200 cal on moderate activity. So, if you ate 2100 - you would barely lose anything.

In order to lose weight - you should run at least 500 cal deficit, which would put you at 1700 cal. with moderate activity.

This web site is fantastic - and a lot of people here have great weight loss stories. I have lost 60 Lbs since September 2007, and still going strong..

Just a guess, but I think what you were probably looking at was the estimated amount of calories you burn in a typical day. Most likely your actual recommended intake will be significantly less.

When I started, my estimated daily burn was ~3200 calories, recommended to take in ~2500. Now that I've lost about 15 pounds, I re-ran the numbers. Since I weigh less now, my estimated burn is ~2700 calories per day, with my recommended intake lowered to 1950.

That does not sound correct. I'm 5'6 and weigh 142, and it says I burn 2000 calories a day, and if I want to maintain my weight I should eat 1800, and to lose weight I should eat 1500.

Maybe you inputed some stuff incorrectly?
