do you think people can tell you've lost weight?
how much weight did you have to lose before people could tell you've lost? 5 pounds, 10 pounds, 25 pounds?
i'm having a hard time being able to tell if people notice that i've lost! my weight shot up from 120 to 128 last fall and winter, now i'm back to my normal weight of 118. (yay). do you guys think people can tell? i lost 10 pounds in 6 months so it was very slow.......
and how do you guys feel when people notice-----does it make your day?
People definitely notice when I lose weight... I lost alot of weight (slowly over time) but when I lost like the last 7-10 lbs my friends started saying I lost too much weight. I gained back some of that weight and people still could notice I lost weight... like 5 lbs?
I've lost 24 pounds over the last 3 months, and yesterday was the first day someone actually noticed (Besides my husband, but he doesn't count). yesterday, I could finally fit into a smaller uniform at work and someone asked if I was losing weight. I just said 'yes', but inside I was jumping for joy! I think it depends on how you carry your weight. I carry mine very evenly and lose it evenly, so i think it's hard to tell when a person is just getting smaller as oposed to losing only their stomach fat or something. I hope that makes sense. either way I'm sure you look fantastic and congrats on your weight loss!
I had to lose 45 pounds before anyone actually commented on it. On the downside, the people who have commented are guys at work (I'm also male), and I would really prefer that the girls notice!
I think people can tell but I also think that people are sometimes afraid to tell you. They don't know WHY you're losing the weight or HOW and sometimes it can be a touchy issue for people.
I've lost almost 29 pounds, I sure hope people can tell hahahah
i moved twice while i was losing weight. was 168 in town A. moved to town B, dropped to 155. moved to town C, and dropped to 140 (then to 129, but that was a medical thing). now i'm back in town B at 133.
when i go back to town A, people notice, but otherwise, it's been pretty invisible. although i have one friend in town B who has known me all along, so of course she noticed.
People don't always say something for a lot of reasons - it's personal, it could be due to illness, and some people interpret "my you've lost weight" as translating to "you aren't as fat as you used to be."
Plus, if they see you every day, they might not notice. And it depends on where you lost it from.
I've lost about 13 lbs and the only people that have noticed or said anything is my family. I've lost about 13 lbs in 2 months. I went from 124 to 111 now. No one else can tell except my family. I think it's a big difference but I dunno.. maybe not?
I wasn't overweight, but then I started being more active and lost about five-ten pounds. My one friend and I were shopping one day and she asked if I've been losing weight- and then proceeded to tell me I looked great. It was a nice complement, but then I got to thinking-- Did I not look great a mere five pounds heavier? ... I then became extremely self-conscious, especially of photos of me a few months earlier. But now, two and a half years later, I've kinda put that all behind me and have come to realize that I'm still me, no matter how much I weigh. ![]()
a while ago i lost 10lbs or so and my when i came into work one day my boss looked and me and asked if i had lost weight, i was surprised (not that she pointed it out because she will with anything that changes, like hair colour) mostly that she actually noticed. looking at pictures (and in the mirror) i realized that i tend to lose (and gain) weight in my face first, so if i drop a big amount in a shorter amount of time people tend to notice.
other then that the only people who mention anything is my mom, who knows that i'm trying to eat healthy and exerscise. though mostly i'm happy if i'm the one that notices a difference in appearance :D
I would say it was at about 20 pounds for me...but only my family members comment on it. I started really noticing I was looking different after I lost about 30 pounds......Like not so many rolls and chins, and I feel like I look "good" instead of just heavy.
I think it depends on where you lose the weight and your height. The shorter you are, the more a few pounds tend to make a difference. If you lose a significant amount of weight, regardless of how long it takes you, people are bound to notice. The compliments must feel great =]
Beyond just the weight, though, I think there's a difference in the way you carry yourself after you've gotten in shape, even if only by a few pounds. You probably come off as more confident and you wear your clothes better, as you're not trying to hide what you're ashamed of anymore.
Congratulations, by the way! Great job =D
I had lost about 20 pounds when my supervisor said to me one day, "Ooh, you are getting so skinny."
I was like "Whoa, really?" I didn't think it was that noticeable, but I suppose it was.
It'll vary on body type though. And some people are oblivious to that sort of stuff. I know some people who wouldn't notice if someone lost 100 pounds :)
getting people to notice can be tricky
it depends on lot of things , ur height , initial weight , how u carry ur weight, the speed by which u lose, ur frame size, the clothes u wear , how often u see those people....
as 4 me,no one but my family noticed i was losing weight except my family till i lost 25 lbs - in less than 3months-
it was very depressing as i knew i was getting smaller - went from size 18-20 to 14-16 -
but once i got by the 25 lbs mark everyone seemed to b noticing and i get those comments all day
exercise really does the trick too , u can get lot trimmer and b noticed even if u havent lost much
also what helps is buying new clothes as it is hard to notice when u r still wearing ur fat clothes
so only focus on getting healthier and fitter coz actually u r doing it 4 urself and not anybody else
i've had a couple people notice my weight loss . . . made me very happy to know that it actually is visible.
my cloths noticed too ;)
I've gotten about 5 comments in the last week asking if I lost weight and that I look great! What an awesome feeling! The thing is, is that I haven't weighed myself from the beginning so I have NO idea how much I've lost. It's obvious in my clothes and when I measure myself, but I don't know the lbs. I am guessing about 10lbs...?? I am 5'3" though, so that might be why...I'm a shorty :) Congrats to all and keep going!

Wow that's awesome =D Congratulations! I bet those compliments were super uplifting.
I've only lost about 8-9 pounds so far, and I can't even really tell myself. Hopefully people will notice once I've lost a bit more! :)
Good luck!
