People in their 20s that would like support!
I have seen some other folks that are in their 20's that are in a similar situation to me ( I am trying to lose 70 lbs.) I thought maybe we could start supporting each other with diet and exercise tips and maybe even do weigh ins on a particular day to hold ourselves accountable. This thread can be to talk about anything going on in your life that is helping/hindering weight loss.

Not wanting to step on scale after a horrible food weekend. Am getting back on track with my counting, discovered that I was eating too little amount of calories if I want to hit my goal sooner rather than later.
That's totally unhealthy though! And honestly, could lead to saggy skin. Not pretty. It's best to lose weigh bit by bit, as little as possible. It's frustrating, but will be so worth it when you notice the difference at the end of the year or whatever.
Personally, I just turned 20 in June and have 90 pounds to go in order to reach my goal weight. I just started a couple days ago and have never worked so hard to not reach in the kitchen for snack food. I love my body...but I love being healthy much much more!
Oh don't worry!! I know the best way to lose weight it 0.5-2 lbs per week!! I've done the weight watchers thing, and I haven't been starving myself, I am worried about saggy skin (might be unavoidable considering my size) but I try to do some toning exercises!!
Thanks for the concern though :) I've got 80 pounds to go!! We kind of having the same objective!
Original Post by ebinfl0615: If anyone has any great ideas for a workout soundtrack, I am ALL ears!! So far I have Nonpoint, The Muse, Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink, and a few country. I know, all very different types of music. But I figured the change of beat might keep me motivated to keep going instead of getting bored. Thanks for listening! Happy Counting!!
Hi Beth! I've been looking for some good workout songs, too! Usually I'm more of the indie-rock type gal, but a lot of my collection is too slow for breaking a sweat on the treadmill. I've been loving Shakira's new song - "She Wolf," (this remix is bomb) ...kind of an empowering message, I'll let you know if it helps me get past that next 1/4 mile!
BTW... Hi!! I'm new! My name is Liz, and I'm 23 and 5'7". Once upon a time in college I lost 60lbs (which was amazing), but I've since gained back 30+ in the worst way. I'm working on getting down from 205 to 140. No specific goal date in mind, but I would like to fit back into my size 11 jeans before the new year - I've run out of things to wear! :(
Step 1 for me has been controlling my eating by switching to six small meals a day. It's helped keep the "hunger beast" at bay so far... but now I want to see the pounds go. I'm rediscovering healthy foods, "the joy of exercise" (UGH), and am looking for support!
I've loved reading through your posts as of late, and hope to become an active, contributing member. Do y'all weigh in on a certain day? Also, I'm looking to attack one meal at a time... suggestions for your favorite quick breakfast would be fab!
Thanks! :)
So, I'm down 1.3 pounds this week! ![]()
Finding it hard to incorporate exercise as of late, am feeling way too tired! What do y'all do to get through these lazy times?
Howdy new people!
I've been going to friends houses and they've been coming over to mine, and we've been having early holiday parties and it was all very fun but involved waaaay too many desserts! I'm back up to 255 and want to hide my face every time I look at the scale. Starting tomorrow I'm counting cals again.
It's been a tradition between me and a couple of friends to have a exercise marathon before Christmas each year to help us not gain weight. It's kinda a friendly competition thing where you exercise even if you don't want to b/c you don't want to be the wimp of the group that couldn't hack it. It starts saturday, nov 14th and goes on to dec 23. But this year my friends are too busy. ANY VOLUNTEERS
??? All you have to do is try to exercise for 30min-1hr each day or at least do 15mins of activity (the 15mins is for days you feel like crap and don't want to do anything). I'm giving myself a reward every 10 days I exercise w/o stopping. You "win" if you exercise all 40days w/o stop. You "loose" if you get lazy one day and sleep in 15 more mins instead of exercise.
Friendly competition helps motivate me so it'd be awesome if some other ppl would at least try this with me so i just don't feel like a fat girl exercising alone. AND it's so close to the holidays I'm sure we could all use some extra motivation to exercise before thanksgiving and Christmas.
Hi Amber! I'm totally down - I love competition! ![]()
Not to mention, I've been totally slacking on the gym - sounds like a great reason to go!
What do you reward yourself with after 10 days?
Day 1: 35mins pilates and 25 mins yoga. Yay!
My rewards are:
Day 10: Candle set
Day 20: Aluminum sports drinking bottle.
Day 30: Cookie press (I know cookies are bad, but it's Christmas.)
Day 40: Trip to Tulsa where I get to eat at my favorite vegetarian restaurant and blow most my grocery budget at the local Asian food market (b/c they have a lot of nifty things that I can't buy in Arkansas).
I made the last present a nicer then the others b/c it's like the "yay, you won" reward. Of course, I won't do it until AFTER Christmas b/c I'll be saving extra money for presents, but the first paycheck after Christmas, oh yeah, Be Le's (restaurant) and Nam Hai (the asian market I like).
Good luck everyone that's helping motivate me w/this. Hope you all do your exercise today ![]()
I'm in too! I'm going to the gym after work so i'll let you know how I do. I think we should all post our rewards... it's good encouragement:
10 Days: Hair cut
20 Days: New nice yarn for a scarf for myself (I knit)
30 Days: Night out to the movies
40 Days: Mani/Pedi

Good idea. And if you guys fudge up 1 day and don't exercise -- don't quit! Still try to do the full 40 days from that day on, b/c exercising 38 or 30 days straight is still better then only exercising once in awhile.
Hooray, it's Day 1! Good luck everyone!
I really like your idea of a trip, Amber. I think I want to use that as a major motivator for myself as well.
10 days - new gym shoes
20 days - facial
30 days - mystic tan
40 days - trip! I'm thinking San Francisco, Boston, or NYC to visit friends
hey everyone :)
i've been without internet for about 3weeks :(. but it was probably a good thing, i think it finally got me off my butt. i've started going on daily walks at about 6am with my mom, walking for about an hour.
yay! i weighed in yesterday at the doctors, at 247 lbs. 20lbs less than my heighest weight back in july :). i'm actually accomplishing something this time, and its a great feeling!
oh, and count me in for the 40 day challenge :)
now i've got to figure out some goals, any suggestions?
I'm soar! Did 40mins of step on the wii fit and 30 mins of pilates so I got my exercise in for the day -- yay! How are the rest of you guys doing? Hope you didn't get lazy on the first weekend. If you did, don't give up, just start fresh monday. I'll be gone tonight and tomorrow so you might not hear from me, but I'll update as soon as I'm back home. Now I'm off to the store to buy healthy food to take w/me so I'm not stuck eating cookies and peanut butter sandwiches (what I usually eat at my in-laws if I don't bring my own food, sometimes it sucks being a vegetarian and that sometimes is when I'm i a small town).
Yesterday I did 20 min on the eliptical, 10 min on the stairmaster (ouch!) and 20 lunges! Today I'm going walking after work for 40 min :-)
Saturday I did 40 minutes on the treadmill. Sunday I walked with my mom for at least 45 minutes.
Day 10 Reward: New Running Shoes
So, I am proud that I woke up extra early to get a workout in!! 29 minutes on the Fit Plus, later will be training on the elliptical for 15 minutes!
10 Days: Getting my hair done!!
20 Days: DVD box-set!
30 Days: New lululemon pants!
40 Days: Micro-dermabrasion treatment and massage!
Everyone is doing really great =D
Today I did 20 mins pilates and 20mins of step/boxing on the wii fit.
